It wasn't one-sided enough to say "they snatched VICTORY from the hands of DEFEAT," but certainly the guys picked up the intensity enough to win by one. It had all the usual Sycamore drama of most all of the games I have seen live or watched this season, missed shots from 2-3 feet, missed free throws in clutch moments, passes to nowhere and cheap turnovers to boot, loss of comfortable leads but somehow we kept them from getting a layup to win and knocked off the hated Aces.

Hell, these guys have the potential to knock off Creighton in their final swan song in the MVC. We know they can do it, I know they can do it because I saw them dismantle them a month ago. Other than the first paragraph of this thread, I will say no more negative. We'll have all summer to figure this team out. Certainly when the season is over and done with, we'll go back and pick apart why they do all these things on a far too regular basis. For now, let's ALL give Devonte Brown a real cheer and thank him for one of the prettiest blocks I have seen.

My heart almost stopped but I am ready for tomorrow. As we learned in 10-11, ANYTHING can happen under the arch.

We need to bring the same level of toughness and hustle as we had against Eville. Do that along with taking better care of the ball and making a few more of the easy baskets and we will be right there at the end of the game.

If both teams play with an attitude and a lot of heart tomorrow it may be necessary for Greenie's Marine buddies to come on to the keep the peace. That should work to our advantage. Go get 'em Trees!

Depth.....................nine of our guys had double figure minutes; Creighton had only seven; Sycamores have more "on the floor" tourney experience & fresher legs tomorrow.
Gibbs 39 - McDermott 35 & Chatman 34...................Jake 33 - RJ 30 & Justin 30.

Wichita also had nine in double figure minutes; Illinois State advances playing only six; Wichita has the edge tomorrow.

If we come out and play hard for 40 minutes we have a good shot at beating the Jays. In my book we've outplayed them 70 of the 80 minutes we've played them this year. Let's just play hard and smart and give ourselves a chance to win down the stretch. Hopefully they let us play as physical as we did yesterday, but not counting on it. Somewhere in the back of the MVC brain trust, I think they'd rather see 6,000 blue jay fans on tv Sunday as opposed to our 600.

Effort and execution. We can beat Creighton. We showed that this year. We competed well with them in Omaha and of course blew them out at home. We can do this, but it's going to take more.

Hopefully Justin hitting that clutch free throw gives him some of his swagger back. Dont know how many times he was open for a jumper yesterday and passed it up. Hoist those shotsup there and get physical with doug on defense!! Other than manny finding his offensive game I think justins play will determine a lot in this game. Talked to several cu fans last night. They are all veryyy confident. Lets send them home stunned!

I actually like that Arop and Odum both had quiet performances, from a box score standpoint...cuz how often do both players have quiet games two games in a row? We're gonna need their special efforts today.

And incidentally, I feel better about our chances today than I did about yesterday's game.

GO STATE!

I really feel like if we win this game (a very big IF) we will win it all, no matter who wins the other semi.

Not predicting a win by any means, Creighton will rightly be the favorite today, but IF we win, I really will feel like the championship will be ours to lose.

We need someone to step up with a big game the way #5 Michael Menser did the last time we were the five seed playing number 1 seed Creighton in a semi. He went off for 32 in 2001 to help us advance to the finals that year against Bradley. Need someone to step up like that again today to win.
