I know to retain FBS status you must average 15,000 in actual or paid home attendance. I wonder if Eastern Michigan is just picking up the tab on the difference?

Most likely so; they (NCAA) looks at that average over several seasons, no?

ie average 10,000 this season but 20,000 next and you're ok...

I can see a future where the WAC, Sunbelt, MAC, MWC are either in the FCS or some member schools make the leap into the BCS. The remainder; probably 5 super confs; ACC, Big Ten*, SEC, Big East and Pac-12*

Could they actually make money by moving down? Clearly they would be more competitive which would sell more tickets.

Make more?? Well -- they'd be spending less...

The entire MAC should move to FCS (along with the Sunbelt and most of the C-USA...)

If the Big 12 does dissolve; I believe it'll be far more cataclysmic than when the SWC dissolved.

Fans of these schools should read with caution...

I am sure they don't make any but I was just pointing out that clearly ticket sales would have to increase...

IF the MAC moves to FCS play; they could maintain the same ticket sales and STILL be money ahead; why? 22 fewer scholies. If they start to win; they might get more fans into the stadium.

In 37 yrs as an FBS program, the Eagles are 123-272-7, .315. They DID win their sole bowl appearance (1987 California Bowl)

That was my point 4q lol

We're in violent agreement -- dropping to FCS is a guaranteed money maker.

Any wins would be additive IF they drew more...

Don't forget that the cash infusion from money games is much smaller when you're a FBS team as well. So dropping to FCS would actually result in more cash there.
