And we all thought that we were going to use our depth.

I assume Coach was looking at matchups and figured IM and AC would match up well with our next opponent and give us some fresh legs.

I always assume that the coach sees them in practice every day and knows what they can do.

Needed Board Help!

As bad a we were getting beat on the boards, I was expecting Coach to play two bigs at the same time. Sounded like we couldn't block out our own shadow. Was it a Coach's Decision on Martin, too?

i would think he would....but really have to question him not giving Martin a shot.

I know what you mean.

I'm sure LSU was bigger and more athletic than a lot of the teams we will play this year. As far as good news, our defense sounded more than good enough to battle any Valley team, and KD sounded pretty active and would have had 4 pts almost immediately if they had not called the charge on him.

How much will our bigs hurt us this year? Let's hope for improvement and remember that there is a big difference in an SEC body and a mid-major body.

I don't like 2nd guessing the coaching staff because they know whats going on better than any of us but damn, what did we have to lose by through Martin or even Carter in there?

I still would've given him an opportunity. Carter has a breadth of EXPERIENCE that much of LSU lacked. The game isn't played on PAPER, but on the COURT.

As far as Golden's "7 games in 16 days" logic and need for fresh legs, I'll think about that while I'm tossing ears of corn to my hogs. There's a helluva difference between the stress/muscle recovery time of a baseball STARTING PITCHER'S ARM and BASKETBALL LEGS.

Totaling up the Big Man minutes:

Isiah - started the game, played 1 minute?? What could he have done so badly in 1 MINUTE of playing time??
Brant: 11 minutes
Josh: 14 minutes

So, assuming they were never on the floor at the same time.... we had a "big man" on the floor 26 out of 40 minutes?

Wonder why we were out-rebounded 47-23?
How many second-chance points did they score? I had to turn it of at one point.. they shot 4 times on goal before they scored...

Well I had a bet with someone on here several months ago on how many mins. AC would see and I got in trouble for stating my case... I think it's a bit to soon to say I told you so or anything like that. But I think this is a sign of things to come, just think if Jake Odum had not red shirted?

I will say this much though, I personally would have put AC and Martin both in their to crash the board a little bit. I mean it couldn't have hurt, I thought blocking up and going up to get a rebound were pretty basic concepts? Now either we are just plain terrible at blocking out or LSU is just that good at blocking out... I am going to guess a little of both.

Yes, I thought he looked ok in exhibition. You may turn out to be right by a lot. I don't see that JP would have helped us more than AC last night.

There's a big difference between a player getting minimal minutes and zero minutes. Something happened between the Lopers game and yesterday that resulted in zero minutes.

I like McKenna a lot, but I'm very very surprised he would sacrifice two experienced players with rebounding ability. And AC is a good 3 point shooter too.

As far as non-conference games go....this was a huge game.

I actually thought he played pretty darn well in Pre Season as well. He shot the ball pretty well and did some nice things.

I really think it might have been a speed and athleticism thing... I stand by my argument that he is just not that fast (foot speed) and athletic! That's the only thing that I could think of, why else would he not play?

I know JP is playing well, but he's not as athletic as AC. I just think it was a strategy decision or something we do not know about. Or just a plain matchup thing. But Harry played 37 min and I thought we were going to use our depth.

He did have Swine flu. I wonder if he still doesn't have much stamina and his matchup would be better tonight.

That was 2 weeks ago when he was sick, I am not buying the fact that he was not in "good enough shape" to play last night... I know you are just throwing things out, but I don't care what anyone says (even if the coaching staff said that) I wouldn't buy that for a second.

I am not going to turn this into a knock AC session or anything to that effect. But I think this is a product of a new Sycamore team and system. And given the production (numbers) that we have seen from AC in his first 2 seasons as a Sycamore, it was really nothing to warrant him seeing big minutes.

im dissapointed in those of you who turned it off when the going got tough. We were only down a mere 6 points with a couple minutes to go. Do not start losing faith in the team or they will lose faith as well. This season has just begun and we still have a great opportunity to do well.

This one game isn't make or break. Chances are, as the selection committee has shut down virtually all at-large bids for mids like us, we have to win the MVC tournament to get in anyway.

We hung tough with an SEC team at their place. It exposed some deficiencies, and thankfully, they are correctable. We're going to be OK, particularly when JK gets himself comfortable with the scheme.

Good days are ahead!!!

you mentioned something I almost forgot. This wasn't a "tournament" game. It was a road game. I'm sure that would not have been a cake walk for IU or Butler.
