Could be a good game for us but then again I expected us to stomp Wyoming but I'm mostly wondering why do we have to go on the road again for this challenge between the MWC/MVC? GO STATE

Thought for a moment there we were talking football and I thought OMG our football has improved but not quite ready for this yet?

Disappointed we didn't get a home game after having to travel to Wyoming this year. You would think it would alternate since we had Colorado State at home the previous year.

i like this match up with boise because of the success of there football program. it's pretty cool to have such a unique school such as boise on our schedule, a lot better than wyoming or colorado state. it just sucks that it isn't home.

Does anyone think it might be because of the budget maybe we can't afford to bring Boise State here? Or does that not matter when it comes to MVC/MWC challenge?

Why do you find Boise State unique?

How/Why are they "a lot better wyoming or colorado state..."??

Thanks

because boise is a house hold name now. everyone either hates boise or they love boise. name one other school in the country that has risen out of nowhere. the only other school that is remotely close is TCU. and TCU already had a history before that. you can count Utah maybe too, but they didn't last long. Boise is unique and you can't deny it. they might not be as good as some of the schools in the moutain west. but most of the people looking at the schedule don't know that. they bring a household name to our schedule, what more do you want?

I see what you are saying treeman. Won't help the rpi, but might draw interest from a casual fan because they have heard so much about Boise lately. (even if it is football) Not sure I agree, but I do follow your logic.

Well, you'll get people to recognize them because of football; but I'm struggling to find anything 'unique' about their MBB program.

In the WAC (their current conf.) -- I immediately think of La Tech (because of Karl Malone and their perennially strong WBB program); Utah St and Nevada have been really good WAC schools (of late)

In the Mtn West; BYU and Utah come to mind quickly for MBB.

As to 'rising out of nowhere,' if a person is a TRUE college football fan, they would know that Boise State has ALWAYS been good in football; from their days as a Jr College, through Div II, Div I-AA and now today.

And for the record, I am agnostic WRT Boise St.

yeah i'm saying boise state is a household name because of football. their basketball isn't the greatest. but like i said hardly know one knows that. a good example i can think of is Penn State. if you tell are student body and general fans that are sycamores are going over to penn state to play a basketball game most of them will be pretty excited. and if we beat them, everyone will be extremely pumped. because we just beat a huge school that is "big time". now majority of the general fans don't know that penn state stinks in basketball. So it creates some hype around the program, something we all is know we desperately need for us to take our next leap in athletics. you kind of understand where i'm coming from?

I wouldn't think ISU would have to pay them to play in TH if it was part of the Challenge. But who know?

Penn State is relatively decent this year in basketball. They have some solid wins over some of the top teams in the Big Ten.

The way it was explained to me was every 4 years you will have 2 home games. It can be in any order just so that every four year your home 2 times and on the road 2 times. So in 2012 we will be at home for sure. But I did some research on Boise and they are 12-8 but the key thing you need to know is their entire starting five are seniors!! So i'd imagine they will be a little down next season.
