Lilly Ledbetter fought one of the nation's largest companies over being paid less than men who performed the same job. While her court challenge was unsuccessful, Congress eventually passed an equal pay law bearing her name.

Ya, I'll bet Lilly really knows how to use that crescent wrench. Look at her hands...size of mini-pencils. If you wanna see what impact the frequent use of a similar-sized wrench will have upon hand & finger size, visit a big truck mechanic and glance at his hand size! What a joke...all in the name of manipulating PUBLIC OPINION.

Wonder what Lilly thinks about the recent publicity in reference to females that have tried to qualify as Marine special forces soldiers! The research has shown that its not working out because they can't meet the required standards of physical stamina. Few if any could do military pull ups. So what do u do ---just go away and look the other way --and give them and pay them for something they haven't earned?

Why is it I am not suprised by the responses here. Next time your wife, daughter granddaughter etc. works alongside a male doing the same work tell them to go to HR and let them pay her less because she is a woman and there is no way in hell she could do as good a job as a Male.

Yeah ok Dave---but suggestion--reread above post----I'm not talking about equal work for equal pay!
Next time you are deployed and with one of these female Marines as described above ----and you are having to carry her load---then I don't want to hear you bitching and crying!:pointandlaugh:

LMAO---again reread my post Dave---Marine Special Forces ---that can "not" meet the required standards for this distinction!
I served in 1970-74 and we didn't have to worry about this bullshit! Things have changed not for the better! Also before ---If Im gay its ok! this-- our new military!
Why do we have Title IX ---lets just have one basketball team at ISU--is that what u are suggesting!
How many females do we have on our major league sports teams--any major league baseball umpires!
LMAO----:pointandlaugh:

Damn Budd you dance around more than Ali ever did . You are throwing so many outlandish punches maybe one will stick nice try.Maybe next time you will be able to handle the things that get smuggled in to HC for you a little better . So you were a Marine?

OK, Pup..you remind me of one of Pavlov's dogs, salivating in front of the Eagle's Budweiser trough in anticipation of "reward." Did you ever make it back after halftime?

Please explain/provide examples of "carrying your own load" as a Marine on the front line of battle? I'm not a Marine, but have had a number of friends & relatives that have been, and given the condition of ACTIVE COMBAT, none have ever preferenced fighting alongside a WOMAN, all other factors being equal. BTW...the topic was initially about discriminatory pay patterns in American industry, NOT military. My initial comment was directed at a woman w/ "office-like" hands holding a heavy duty crescent wrench, as if she regularly used the tool in her line of work. BTW, my father was a maintenance mechanic for Alcoa, and my brother now into his 35th yr. post-military as a DIESEL MECHANIC (works on everything from Ohio/Mississippi barge engines to virtually all Peabody/Amax mechanical vehicles).

Ok old buddy lets start with I hate Budwieser.
I have a military record of which I I am extremely proud of and one that is proven . The questions of women in the military was not brought into this conversation by me but by your friend and smuggling bud. I had the pleasure of serving proudly with many Women Marines of which could carry their own load in the heat of battle. I respect the Chiefs military service as I do all who ever served both Male and Female.
Why would anyone ever want someone to be paid less just because of their Gender . The law is EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK . How is it to hard to understand that a woman doing the same job should not be paid the same as the male? As well this could be and I am sure it happens the other way around as does the racial bias that goes on in the workforce.

I served with distinction! How long were you in for?
Ali--how many female boxers are there? Should whats her name on the female circuit make the same as ALI_Tyson did?

I understand your position, but how often is ANYTHING "equal?" For instance , given two (2) workers (male and female) and two (2) boxes of groceries, one weighing 10 lbs and the other weighing 25 lbs., who would be EXPECTED to carry the LIGHTER load? "Tradition" is not something that is easily legislated...not to mention, the inherent physiological and psychological distinctions between MAN and WOMAN. Some career positions are simply better fit for one or the other.

Agree with you Dave if its equal----again please reread my post---what I was talking about was on national tv last week and was dealing with the dilemma of women trying to get into the "elite" areas --special forces--SEALS etc and how to handle it when they don't meet the standards laid out which are required for this classification!
You were putting words in my mouth which was not what I said! I have no problem---with equal pay if indeed all things are equal!
