There were two heats of the 1500-meter run. The top five in each heat and the next two fastest qualifiers advance. ISU's David Timlin had the ninth fastest time but, unfortunately, did not -- at least on the surface -- qualify. Zach Perkins, the winner of Heat One, finished tenth. There is a protest pending but I do not know whether it had anything to do with Timlin.

GREAT race and a great way to end the season for Timlin, Shatters the ISU school record and just misses the finals by .80 seconds. I really think if he'd have been in the other heat he would have kicked his way in to the top 5 and made the finals.

be sure to tune in to ESPNU at 7pm to see Katie Wise run the 100, Alethia Marrero in the 800, and Kimyanna Rudolph in the pole vault.

the MVC men didn't win any NCAA titles yesterday, and likely won't, but today the women have the current leader in the women's hammer throw (SIU's Price is leading entering the final 3 throws). Raven Saunders from SIU also has an excellent shot to win the women's shot put today as well

SIU's DeAnna Price wins the women's hammer with a meet record throw over 234 feet. So the MVC will once again have at least one men's or women's NCAA champion outdoors

They really are the premier throwing school in the US, they just have really good coaches.

Katie runs next!

Katie runs a VERY fast race, 11.27, but it won't quite be enough to advance to the finals.

Meanwhile, in the pole vault, Kimyanna Rudolph has yet to miss! Clearing the first two heights easily and she leads at the moment!

Katie finishes 14th and earns 2nd team all american, a great season for her!

a tidbit of info just posted, previously the fastest non qualifying time (for the finals) in the women's 100 was 11.29 seconds, today SIX women bettered that time and did not make the finals! That's how fast they're running.

Marrero 3rd in heat 1 in 2:04.01, so we'll see if she makes it on time after the next 2 heats

Rudolph down to her last jump at 14-01.25", looks like she will finish in the top 8 and score.
