I went to the IPFW game tonight and sat behind the bench with the parents, I feel terrible, I TOTALLY JINXED IPFW going to that game as a Sycamore alum, I brought the Sycamore curse to them and they wound up losing after having the lead (18 points at one time) for 39 minutes, 56 seconds. ndsu got the lead with 4 seconds left and Landis missed the last shot to win it. It was just like suffering through an ISU game.

Terrible night for Indiana teams in conference tourneys, we lost 3 NCAA bids tonight. Ugh

Valpo has an auto. bid to the NIT, 99.9% positive that ipfw is an auto. bid to the not.... This is a season that may find more Indiana colleges in the NIT than the NCAA... Not sure if that's ever occurred...

Doesn't Evansville have a strong nit resume? Thinking only gloomington and west laffy are locks for the NCAA....

Notre Dame has a pretty strong resume' don't they?

Meh... they have what, one 'good win' (vs duke early in conf play?) if butler is a bubble team, like many experts claim, then aren't nd?

they'e finishing 'weak' (7-5), they were just crushed by U.Miami (NOT a basketball power), they have a nice record (20-10 // 11-7) to go to the NIT and lose...

isn't there still chatter about Wichita City as a bubble? nd is behind them in most 'power rankings'... so... No, I don't see them as a LOCK.

If they make it, they should weep openly and thank divine intervention (again) and then be a 0-1 team in the tourney

Evansville might get in the NIT if Wichita goes to the dance but I don't think Wichita is going to the dance; therefore they are the NIT auto due to winning the regular season. A new 16 team tourney in Las Vegas is attracting a lot of attention......play 5 straight days if you win, go home when you lose. It will take some depth to survive but good place to go and sounds like fun.

You don't think MVC would get 2 NIT bids? with all of the churn, wackiness in the "power 5' conferences... if wichita city makes the ncaa, it'll be a bit of a surprise --- i think the wackiness hurts wichita city this year

at one point, i'd have been surprised the ncaa would sign off on a tourney in vegas BUT as they've stupidly signed off on 40 games in the football bowl season (and are considering another 3-4...), the Vegas 16 might be THE tourney to aim for non-NCAA, NIT seasons. Theyre a TON of hotel rooms to be had, some pricey a LOT 'cheap', you can fly to Vegas from about anywhere... a few things to do when NOT watching basketball --- most booster clubs, alumni association SHOULD be able to 'easily' package a trip to Vegas... vice hoping 500 fans travel to nashville for a CBI game vs belmont...

What a "troll"... Wonder what SSOM's pseudonym is over there?

Bro lol quit pimping me like that. I visit 3 internet forums sycamorepride.com, qdma.com (Quality Deer Management) and bowhunting.com

Nothing else. I don't troll. I live a rather simple life. If/When we ever pull a big upset or win a big game I will visit the opposing forum to see what apposing fans had to say and reaction to the game. Never post - its a personal rule of mine. That is all.

Jay Bilas was just asked how you compare a 6th or 7th place team in a major conference against a team like Valpo that won their conference. It is my opinion that a team that is 6th or worse in their conference has NOT earned a right to play for the national championship.

Is this a generally common opinion or do a lot of you disagree?

Simple--if you don't finish in the upper half of your conference, you don't qualify for the Dance.

I remember several years ago when the old Big East got 11 teams into the NCAA and all the experts raved about how mighty the conference was, only to have 9 of the 11 fail to advance past the first weekend.

The problem is that many of the P5 schools inflate their resumes in the preseason and they get everyone marveling at their records, and then they enter the conference season and no one cares who they lose to because everyone thinks they are all so strong. So we end up with the 9th place team in the P5 conference going to the dance while Monmouth, Valpo or wichita state holds their breath.

The talking heads always look for reasons to allow the big schools in and always look for reasons to keep the mid majors out. Happens every year.

Just to get some discussion going before the selection show. I've been thinking about how the MVC's tournament units have been working out the next six years.

2015: 5 (3 WSU, 2 UNI)
2014: 2 (2 WSU)
2013: 7 (5 WSU, 2 CU)
2012: 3 (1 WSU, 2 CU)
2011: 1 (1 ISU)
2010: 3 (3 UNI)

Each unit is worth 1.67M over 6 years. 1.67Mx21=$35,070,000.
35,070,000/6=$5,845,000.
So basically this past year the MVC received $5,845,000 to distribute to it's members.
5,845,000/10=584,500.
So each school in the MVC received $584,500 this past year from NCAA money.

Now I know the MVC might keep a % of money for themselves and I've heard they give the team that earned the unit gets twice the amount as the other 9 schools, but this gives you an idea on how much money schools like ISU receive from the NCAA tournament. Please correct any of my math if it's wrong or any of my logic is off.

and this is also why it's critical that Wichita State gets into this years' NCAA field, I really think they could win some games. I also think UNI can too.

At least we're included in the past 6 years of contributions for the MVC.
