Can we keep it closer than we did against Montana? Surely we can do better than we did against IU. I'm a loyal fan, but these next three weeks are going to be rough.

That is reasonable. I might even add 10 to that.

I have watched NDSU several times this season on ESPN+ replay. It is a beautiful, skilled, athletic, precise brand of football. Bryce Lance and Raja Nelson are fantastic wide receivers. No one has been able to cover them for an entire game. The QB is setting records set by a string of great NDSU QB's. But he has a full spectrum of skilled targets to help him.

BUT, in this NIL era the gap may be narrowing in the top 10 of the FCS. The Bison lost several top producers through the portal (to Miami Hurricanes, Texas Tech and Va Tech for example) and FCS teams are picking up some FBS transfers who are contributing.

While the margin of victory has been impressive in the Bison's conference games, the last two were far more competitive than the final score indicated.

Versus Illinois State, it was 18-16 NDSU entering the 4th quarter. Against SIU last weekend, it was 10-10 late in the first half with SIU driving and in position for at least a field goal to lead at the half. An unforced fumble followed by a long (50?) pass to Bryce Lance followed by a TD pass put NDSU up 17-10. It stayed that way, but two more SIU turnovers led to short fields and NDSU scores. In many ways, SIU shot itself in the foot for at least 17 points lost and probably 14 surrendered in the 45-17 loss.

Now SIU handled ISU pretty easily and I expect, if form holds, that NDSU will do the same. ISU is not the same team w/o Elijah Owens pressuring the defense with his RPO packet of skills. It will be a lot to ask of the O-line to protect either Riddle or Patterson so there had better be a lot of short, quick passes in the arsenal.

But two years ago ISU gave NDSU a real battle before losing something like 37-26.

With this game and Mallory’s run, run, it will be 3 and out city. Just hope the defense can play like they did against South Dakota. I’m going to watch, but!

This is the first time the Trees have faced the Plains Buffalo since 2022... 26-31 Buffaloes

Unlike the Salukies, the Buffaloes will more than double the score

A dream I had the other night..........since we're playing the #1 FCS team in the nation at home, a team that has dominated the FCS playoffs for years....
Well, there will be dozens of posts about the game here at Sycamore Pride in the days leading up to kickoff, thousands of ISU fans will flood Terre Haute going into the weekend,
lines of fans will stream under the arch into Memorial Stadium, over 10,000 fans pack into the seats to watch ........huh......huh.......

Damm ! It was only a dream

This is the way it should be and could have been with better leadership, planning, and fundraising going back decades. It baffles me to this day that numerous Presidents, certain VP's in charge of money and planning, and BOT members over the decades have walked into Memorial Stadium and thought "this is fine, we're not going to take any meaningful, substantive action on this stadium or the program."

Heartbreaking for ISU football fans and alums considering the potential.

potential?

Has there been ANY meaningful demostration ( $$$ ) from the Football Supporters to reno Memorial?

Ol' Doc Bradley was very open -- bring him a check and he'd build - period.

Very well said!

Yes, potential. Miles (or maybe specifically Shakir Bell) showed ISU football can win and draw crowds. Sanford showed us ISU can not only make the playoffs but also win playoff games on the road. I will admit it is a new day with NIL/pay to play and that the Dakotas are only getting better and better (and richer and richer). But if you consider SIU and ILSU peer institutions (I do, and we better given they're regional public schools in the MoVal just like ISU) then there is clearly a formula for football success and modern stadiums. If you want to consider EIU and USI peer institutions then it is time to drop to the OVC/Big South or whatever it will be in the coming years.

Just throwing your hands up and saying "the alumni won't build a stadium so we're stuck" isn't leadership. And as to Bradley specifically, look at the emails between him and Prettyman that Golden FOIA'd back then and that will tell you all you need to know. It's clear his finger was never anywhere near the pulse of ISU football.

Well said. Last week at Homecoming at the game and tailgate was inspiring. Lots of fans care about this program and the success of it. Not one word about canceling football. Just whipping our ass with all this losing, but at least the passion was there. So much disappointment With the play calling, especially with contestant running the ball. When a team like South Dakota begs you to beat them like last Saturday, this coaching staff has got to put these players in a position to win. Not predictable plays that all DC’s know.

ESPN using a North Dakota broadcast team. They just described the Memorial Stadium crowd compared to an NDSU home game. “It’s not dead, but it close.”

Stay classy WDAY.
