I was surprised to hear he would take the position. He seemed to have a nice gig at LXA. Glad to have someone passionate about the University in the position. You mean I can finally talk about it now?Not surprisingly, I am happy with the decision. Best of luck to you Charlie!
Remember that Carol grew up in TH. I am more worried about him selling his house than the fact that Terre Haute will be quite a change for them. I have said several times on here, if I ever got an opportunity to get an ISU job, I would go back in a heartbeat. The older you get, the less your environment means to you. And AGAIN, Terre Haute is a GREAT town. It might be a tad slow for you "fast-laners" but he'll have lots of opportunities to meet people and grow existing friendships that he already has there. He put a ton of thought into it, Sack, and I only hope it all works for him and Carol. I am confident it will.I am very, very excited about Charlie coming on. Very surprised that he was willing to take it and move over to TH, very surprised. But he will do a TREMENDOUS job! I am very happy with the decision and with him taking the job. Knew they had been talking with him about it for a while, obviously he had to really think about the move after living in Carmel for so many years.
I can't think of a better person for the job. And with his Greek Background and incredible support of athletics, he fits directly into the needs of the ISU! Can't say enough about Charlie...I am just so happy. For once, ISU makes a GREAT hire of the right person within an position that is vital to success of ISU. Sure we have hired great coaches (thanks RP) but seldom has ISU hired people that have the ability and character of a Charlie DeMaio...I am just very proud of my alma mater today!
