Lunardi has us in, Palm has us out. My favorite quote from Palm's article on his bracket:

At the bottom of the bracket, Indiana State dropped off following a loss to Missouri State. The Sycamores will either win the MVC tournament or get upset in the first round.

This guy really knows us, doesn't he???

If the pattern holds (W-W-L, as posted in another thread) we win Saturday at Bradley, Beat WSU, Lose to Iona, Beat Drake, Beat Evansville, and lose in the first round of the tourney.....(then, if we sneak in an at-large -as we'd be regular season champs - we would make the Sweet 16. I'll take it.)

I wrote that and still think that is how it'll play out. We'll lose to Iona because ISU RARELY does well in bracketbuster games. We just never seem to get up for them at all and just kinda go thru them without much enthusiasm.

now out, rightfully so IMO

Indiana State: The Sycamores were one of the feel-good stories of the season, an unheralded bunch that emerged from the tough Missouri Valley in lieu of popular preseason tourney picks such as Northern Iowa and Illinois State. Unfortunately, after Saturday's loss at Bradley (RPI: 175) -- which followed a loss earlier this week at Missouri State (RPI: 207) -- much of the bloom has come off this rose. To wit, Lunardi moved Indiana State out of the field in his late bracket update Saturday. Indiana State has four games left in the regular season and one major bubble opportunity: Tuesday night's home date against Wichita State. If ISU can't manage to take down the Shockers in Terre Haute, its final three games (Iona, Drake, at Evansville) won't do much to help.

they write as though ISU still has a chance at an at-large bid. Umm, that ended at MSU and Bradley

Notes
Indiana State is probably the most vulnerable bubble team playing in BracketBusters on Saturday. The Sycamores have wins over Miami, Ole Miss, Creighton and Wichita State, yet they’ve also lost to the worst teams in the Missouri Valley Conference and jeopardized their bubble status. Iona is one of the top offensive squads in the country (81.5 ppg), and their 9-7 record in the MAAC is deceiving since they’ve lost five games by three points or fewer since Jan. 31. The Sycamores cannot afford to take a loss in this one.

If we win out, we would. All sort of teams like us are losing. This has truly been an ODD, ODD year.

they don't give us much of a chance, and rightfully so, but we are at least still in the conversation.

SURVIVORS

Indiana State: The survivors category is reserved for teams that did just enough to avoid completely destroying their résumés in one fell swoop, and that description certainly applies to the Sycamores. On Saturday, ISU held on to a 65-64 home win over Iona, whose 131 RPI would have ended Indiana State's chances of getting an at-large bid pretty much in their tracks. (This is one of the main criticisms of the now-sunsetting BracketBusters, by the way, that it ended up hurting just as many mid-majors as it helped.) Instead, a win keeps the flicker of hope alive, if only barely.

Scott Van Pelt isn't impressed.

Can't blame him as the only way we get in is to win the MVC Tourney which I think is a long shot based on our recent play. We need to refind the passion and heart we are capable of playing at.

Well, with our win and everyone else's losses, our RPI actually went up one spot overnight from 62nd to 61st. So while it wasn't impressive, our win did help.

Seth Davis on CBS still has us in. Again we need to win from here and win our tournament to make it. I think we are NIT bound.

from USA today, everything we already know. Still in the discussion, which keeps ISU in the media

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...'s+Basketball+-+Top+Stories)&utm_content=ESPN

Indiana State: Record: 16-11, RPI: 61
Plus: Beat Miami, won at Wichita State
Minus: Lost at Missouri State, 11-6 vs. 100+/Non-Division I
At-large ranking: 47
Next two games: Drake (Feb. 27) | at Evansville (March 2)
Analysis: The Sycamores have a nasty habit of locking up quality victories and wasting little time in tacking on a costly loss. A three-game skid this month probably cost the Trees any shot at an at-large bid, though it could find a way to prevail in the Missouri Valley's Arch Madness next month in St. Louis. A loss in either of the final two regular season games leaves little doubt that Indiana State's season comes down to three days in March (Feb. 24)

new write up on espn.com today, agree with what he says

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bubblewatch?id=147

Indiana State [17-11 (9-7), RPI: 59, SOS: 53] It'd be one thing to pile up a few road losses in conference play, but to pile up so many bad road losses in February will be tough for the committee to overlook. Indiana State has lost to Drake, Missouri State and Bradley since February began, all sub-150 RPI losses, and while they held on for a one-point home BracketBusters win over Iona, the win doesn't really help much. This is kind of a long shot now -- it may take some serious work in March Madness for ISU to feel remotely safe come Selection Sunday.

I fully agree with this. It will take finishing 11-7 in conference play and getting to the final in St. Louis to get an at large bid. Even if we did that i would be sweating bullets come selection sunday....think Missouri State several years ago being left out with an RPI @ 28.

the advantage we have over MSU and their RPI of 28 though is our wins over Miami, Creighton, Ole Miss, and WSU. Those 4 wins are the ONLY reason we are still in the discussion. However remote the discussion may be. I don't recall if MSU had the "signature" type wins that year, as opposed to the "signature" wins ISU has this season. And of course the reason we are outside looking in is d/t the losses @ Drake, @ SIU, @ MSU, @ Bradley, @ Morehead State. Regardless, you are correct, an at large bid will require an 11-7 MVC finish and making it to Sunday in St. Louis. All possible, but not sure how probable?

We had a win against #2 Wisconsin, and finished 2nd in the league at 22-9 was just a joke.

We're likely to get booted from the discussion tonight. No NCAA and we'll fall out of the NIT, too. We're likely move to CBI/CIT discussion.
