I have met Nate a couple of times but do not know him. From what I know, this hire is another winner. It has been a good week for Indiana State. I am sure some of you on here know Nate well and can enlighten us on him. (I did just add him to my Facebook friends list-seemed like the prudent thing to do in light of is hiring). Best of luck to you Nate. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Can anyone speak to his qualifications for a position like this?
Believe he was doing something in the financial industry or maybe that was Menser. That said, after Bird, I'd think Green would be in the argument with JSW, Heaton, Menser and a couple others as the next best Sycamore hoopster. So the name recognition when trying to go after boosters and athletics supports is a good thing to have.

He worked for Meryll Lynch... I'm sure that I did not spell that correctly... He was always at the golfing events that I attended. Very personable and one of my favorite sycamores of all time.

Didn't realize he'd retired/ended his BBall career.

First qualification is the fact that he's an "I-Man"
Second: a 'decorated' I-Man
If he's been working in the financial arena, just icing on the cake.

Definitely name recognition with most of the dedicated alumni.

How will this new foundation differ from the Sycamore Varsity Club?

Nate Green was a outstanding player for the Sycamores....

and I'm sure he'll do a great job in his new position.

As for the all-time great hoopsters at ISU, here's my Top Ten list:

1. Larry Bird
2. Duane Klueh
3. Jerry Newsom
4. Dick Atha
5. Butch Wade
6. John Sherman Williams
7. Danny Bush
8. George Pillow
9. Eddie Bird
10. Nate Green

Top Ten is too short; hard to have a list like this without Renn and Menser

Nothing personal but be careful with lists. A couple of these guys for sure are not "Top 10" especially over a couple more that you left out. And I am reasonably sure you never saw about 1/2 of them play youngster?

Not making fun of tjames but he isn't exactly a spring chicken...onthe other side I wouldn't question his knowledge of ISU sports.

Well, I did work for the athletic department from 1979-1997

And while I didnt see guys like Klueh, Atha, Newsom play, but I take the word of people I trust who did and who have seen the recent crop of players. I did see guys like Pillow, Bush, both Birds, John Sherman Williams, Nate Green, Michael Menser, Matt Renn, Jake Kelly, Jake Odum, etc.

So I think that I have a pretty good overall of basketball history at Indiana State. I was the athletic department historian for several of the years that I worked there.

Besides, the list was MY list. Lists of all-time greats are like......fingers. Everybody has them.

Don't question me either Bucko.................I've seen more games than you have or probably ever will and most of these players that he has listed. Your limited knowledge of baskeball shows itself almost every time you post. If you want to get in a pi$$ing match & name names let's start with why is Eddie Bird on this list ???????

Eddie Bird....career scoring

Eddie ranks pretty highly in several categories. And he was a very good player. Was he great? No. That's why I didn't rate him as highly.

Oh thanks Jason......go ahead everybody..pile on...lol...

I knew when I said fingers, somebody would do that.....oh well......

I wasn't insulting you or saying I was going to make a list. I was civilly stating that tjames has seen alot of basketball at state and I trust his opinion.

Other than Eddie, who would you omit and replace them with?

Larry Bird - no argument.
Coach Klueh - national PoY; All-American
Newsom - all-american, NBA draftee
Wade - all-american
Atha - Pan-American Gold Medal, All-ICC, NBA player
JSW - MVC Centennial team; euro leagues, 2nd leading scorer
Danny Bush - arguably a better coach than player but no slouch
Geo Pillow - HoF member, All-Conf
Nate Green - MVC PoY; led team to NCAA...
