Correct, no city-level income tax in Chicago, just state. That said, Chicago, nor Illinois is so flush with cash that they can afford to lose the millions that alone brings in. That was the point and that is just one piece of the economic generation engine the Bears are.

Arlington paid back their public debt 10 years early. Allegiant here in Vegas is one of the Top 3 grossing stadiums in the country with all of the other events they do outside of football. Inglewood has completely been transformed by the SoFi district although it has received scrutiny that it has now become gentrified. Before it though, you didn't drive through the area at night unless you were looking for hookers, drugs, or trouble.

If Illinois ends up fucking this up, this could potentially revitalize whatever NWI area they pick and that area needs a LOT of help. I still remember working in Gary and being stopped at 4pm by my site host because I was white. "Sweetie, I need you out of town by 5pm or I won't be able to sleep tonight."

I'm more in the camp of NOT using public tax dollars to subsidize billionaires plans/goals of growing THEIR empire with tax dollars - be they federal, state or local.

IF these characters are SUCH great business minds, they'll make it work -- I don't mind taxing entities to stream line the permitting process, cap permit costs at a flat cost (varies by locale) and work to improve infrastructure to/from/around a new site

I'm not tracking the Bears NEED a new stadium inasmuch as WANT a new stadium -- was the reno from 2004? no poorly constructed that it's in DESPERATE need for new? Or does "new" ownership, want a new shinier stadium where they wring EVERY penny out of a guest/visitor/partner?

The Parks Department of Chicago owns Solider Field, the Bears do not. The city has planned numerous concerts, soccer matches days before the game and has trashed the field. Renovations in the early 2000’s was a cluster from the beginning, but the Bears have paid off their portion of the renovation, while the city has not.

But the Bears do need to move. Smallest stadium in the NFL, no tailgating spots, traffic is terrible, and bathrooms and concessions take forever.

wholly agnostic on where the Staleys play or ownership of the stadium where they do play...

The Chicago Fire played 14 games at Soldier Field, it's their home pitch... their was minimal overlap of dates, the Fire usually AFTER a Bears game and the shortest amount of time from Fire to Bears game? 8 days, the other time span? 15 days There were no concerts at the Stadium during the NFL regular season - I only looked at this season

long lines for beers, dogs and the toity? what stadium, new or old DOESN'T have long lines for those services?

i assume this still stressed the field. not sure how good the greenskeepers are or if there is anything they are able to do to make up for the extra activities on it. Im hoping they build a dome wherever in illinois and have the state finals there. It might keep me reffing games to try to get a state final in 4 different stadiums. not sure my body has the time left in it to wait on this fustercluck to play out.

Can I throw a challenge flag? I'll dispute the notion that soccer play is going to unduly "stress" a football field - I've NEVER heard players complain about Soldier Field's playing surface; but my metric is the years of complaints, injuries from The Vet (Philadelphia 1971-2003). I've listed the average height/weight for MLS and NFL players.

The average MLS player is around 5'11" (180cm) tall, with weights varying by position but generally falling in the 150-180 lb (68-82kg) range, with midfielders typically lighter (around 154 lbs) and defenders/goalkeepers heavier (closer to 190 lbs), reflecting a balance of endurance, skill, and physical presence.

The average NFL player is around 6'2" (74 inches) tall and weighs about 245 lbs, but this varies drastically by position, with linemen being much bigger (300+ lbs) and skill players like receivers and cornerbacks being much smaller (around 200 lbs), showing players are getting bigger and more specialized over time.

Concerts... agree can easily be a larger stressor... also why there weren't any during the NFL regular season.

Again - zero interest in where they play -- much bigger fan of watching football in mud, snow, real grass. Wholly accept, fans, staff, zebras would prefer a comfortable 72 degrees, no wind, no rain to watch a game -- what do the players wants? likely a mix of both mud, snow, real grass and playing on plastic indoors

i guess i was only speculating. i havent heard any field issues just wondering if there were some. and my literal only reason for a dome would be that might be the only way to get the finals games there otherwise there's no advantage to having them that far north and then i could do a final there. otherwise do whatever because im a cowboys fan who barely watches any NFL.

regardless of the size of a player, soccer defiles a football field.

I have co-worker, refers to "soccer" as metric football... he's not a fan but his kids are deeply in that "cult"

again, i get why fans love indoor football - far more enjoyable to watch in 72 deg. vis 27 or 7 deg

I watch more NFL over the past 2-3 years than I did, the college NIL, coaching drama, 'warped' FBS perspective is chipping away at my interest

I liked playing at UNI back in the day.

The only way the move the finals in illinois to Chicago is to play in a dome imo and the only reason i would care is to officiate 1 finals game there before i retire. otherwise the can play at a local high school field. (which probably has soccer lines drawn on it too and a thick film of "soccer" on it)

I guess you've not been to a CARDINALS or REDS game. I've been to both stadiums several times, and there maybe a line for concessions, but they're NOT long...and the bathrooms are the same, pretty much in-and-out and they're CLEAN, unlike the the NASTY BATHROOMS at WRIGLEY or SOLDIER FIELD.
