from a message board:

"the game see sawed back and forth most of the night. i was impresed with jasper's grit last night. sanders is the best small big man i have seen play this year. consistently giving 2-3 sometimes 5 inches and more then holding his own.

I agree with what you said about Adam Sander . I've only seen him live one time but seen some games on TV . Adam is a workhorse and is having a really nice year for the Jasper Wildcats. Night in and night out , for the most part , he has had to face good interior post players and players that are taller then him. He has for sure held his own , no doubt . He is so quick off his feet and has a knack for the basketball . If I was a coach , I would more then welcome Adam on my team anyday ! Adam seems to work really hard no matter what the situation is and his hard work is really paying off !"

Are they talking about Jim Cruse or Aaron Carter????
Note: I found some stats on him. 6'2" and ave 20 pts and 13 reb. I did not verify.
He also plays football. don't know if/what he is playing here if, indeed, he is coming here to play sports.

Sounds like a good player to add in the mix.

Did he have any other offers?

Got a response on Sander:

I presume Adam will try to make the Indiana State basketball team as a walk-on. All I know for certain is that when players were introduced before Sunday's North?South All-Stars Classic at Vincennes University, the announcer called Sanders' name and said he's going to Indiana State.

Pete Swanson
So it sounds like he is coming here as a student. Will be interesting to see if he trys to walk-on.

Come on guys you really believe all the stuff you read....ISU is not us but Illinois State...we will be lacing them up against him not getting him to walk on. It's to bad because he is a player or as the youth of today put it a baller.

I am still interested to see if we pick up a juco...and if he's a big, middle or guard. How about Smith? Has he inked and is the team staying in the Haute to work on their game and chemistry?

Illinois State? Huh?

Don't understand?

That was a response from the writer of the article. It sounds to me like Sander is coming here as a student first and will possibly attempt to walk-on. No harm, no foul in my eyes.

Thought I would bump this...not sure if anyone had heard about any other walk-on talent heading to Terre Haute...

There used to be a Pete Swanson who was Sports Editor of the Evansville Press (afternoon) during the 60's & 70's...he'd be 80 yrs.+ now. Same dude?
