I'm the exact opposite. Given how hard it is for a MM to get games I say play any HM anywhere, anytime, and the bigger the stage (and payday) the better. I see your argument in the sense that we don't want to become Chicago St. (playing 5-10 HMs and good MMs a year because you need the money) but as MVC members that are often, at least, competitive in the MVC it's good to do one or two a year. How fun were those wins at IU, Notre Dame, Hawaii, etc as well as scaring Michigan State. Go back and watch that one. When the buzzer went off Izzo breathed a demonstrative sigh of relief and you could read lips in the handshake line when he told Shertz "You have a hell of a team."At the risk of sounding defeatist, I have no interest in this game. I see no point, other than $90,000, in watching our team get humiliated so that Duke can pad their win/loss record. Yes, playing at Cameron Indoor Stadium is cool, but I would just as soon go watch Duke play some team I care nothing about, so that I don't get the embarrassment of watching a 50+ point shellacking. And I cannot see, barring some miracle outcome (and that means getting beaten by less than 20 points), how this will be a positive for our team mentally.
As always, I really hope I eat these words tomorrow, but in this day and age, I just don't see it.
The HMs have now figured out (and dare I say colluded) MTEs to keep dangerous MMs that would hurt their at-large chances away so getting any HM anywhere is a positive for a program like ISU and, often times, ISU can win or scare them. But probably not today.
Now off to the airport to catch the Delta non-stop to Raleigh-Durham....
