Beat ODU and then OU/HOF/DAY and come home happy...not ecstatic, but happy.

Before the season, most would be happy with a 3-1 start to the season given the schedule.

Tough to gauge how good ODU is.

They've beat two CAA teams that project to be #2 and #10 (out of 10) in their preseason rankings. The game with Towson (the preseason #2) team went down to the final horn where they were favored by 5 and won by 3 despite having a +8 margin in turnovers and shooting better (41.4 to 34.5%) all the while being a home. The game against JMU was a single digit lead until about 8 minutes left in the game and JMU shot 32% from the floor to ODU's 44%.

Temple was picked to finish in the middle (7th of 12) of the AAC in the preseason polls I could find -- with Cincinnati/Wichita State picked to win it. So does that put them in line with a Top 3-5 team in our conference? Just watched the game back in the background and Temple dominated the first half and basically just played prevent defense in the second half until ODU pulled back in it.

Feels like this is going to be a game where our defense will need to be locked in and it should be a win, even if we muddy it up shooting wise. If we can keep to 10 or fewer turnovers, shoot 40% and keep them off the offensive glass, it could potentially be a double digit win.

Keeping it to under 10 to's will be a tall task at this point. I'm hoping today was a wake up call.

This is most def more of an MVC level team.

My predictions...

Scott scores 20+ points.
JB plays 30+ minutes.
Rickman owns the inside game, but then gets pulled out of the game as he's getting hot (as he was tonight and historically in his career).
Davis and Thomas play well.
Hughes continues to get more minutes.
Defensively we're much tighter...in a good way.
Neither of our walk-ons see the floor.

I just hope Scott plays within himself and doesn't try to make up for today's game in the first five minutes of tomorrow's. If Brenton plays smart, takes good shots and hits his averages I think we win. JB needs to stay out of foul trouble too, that would help.

Hate to put pressure on an early season game, but I feel like this is a really important game. Need to bounce back and show some fight today and follow the game plan. A win would be good for the team and the fan base. Go Sycamores!

We need to bounce back and compete in this game, it looks like a pretty even match-up on paper. It hasn't been mentioned much but I love the aggressiveness from Hughes, the kid wants to take it to the hole and dunk every time.

Also, Hofstra beat Dayton yesterday so Ohio & Dayton are squaring off on the other side of the bracket.

I agree about Hughes, he and Tyreke really like to take it to the basket, love it.

Old Dominion was preseason 4th in CUSA (ahead of western KY). This would be a nice neutral court win for us and the valley. CUSA is the type of conference along with the Aten that we should be trying to compete and be on top of

That's how Devonte Brown got his FT's, so these two current ISU "pups" must learn to be a multiple category threat in scoring, drawing contact/foul or dishing for the assist...which is what that lil' "picture frame" in the corner of your eye is for.

Re: BM, will he be wearing protective goggles when he returns to protect from "flying elbows?"
