This one is for all the marbles and will not be an easy game. Western has played everyone tough at home including a 17-10 loss against North Dakota State. They also lost to Illinois State 37-34 and UNI 27-13 at home. If we don't come out and play good pass defense, we could easily lose this one and I'm sure the Leathernecks would love to play spoiler.

Game is showing up on the ESPN3 schedule.

I asked in the wrong thread...anyone gonna go now? I'm gonna try to talk my wife into letting me.

Both of you are brave, dedicated and hearty souls. Have been to Macomb more than a few times, and it is one of the most desolate, boring trips I've ever been on.

How about the condition of the field........ Ankle deep mud has been known to appear in a drought rendering speed and athletic ability useless, ask Ronnie Fouch. BE PREPARED!!

If you're referring to the game in 2010, it was raining heavily all that morning - there was no drought - and we got our asses absolutely kicked. It was the first conference game of the season, if I remember correctly, and we weren't at all prepared. Western had a big, strong RB, and hammered us all the day, while our guys couldn't get anything going. Western was also really good that year.

about all I have to say about this game to the players is this, "WIN this game for EVERY ISU football player who played football at ISU from 1985 until now (including you current players) who NEVER got to play in the postseason!"

"I want to win this one for all the small schools who never had the chance to get here..."

There was discussion that they equipment staff did not have the right cleats as well.

Nope. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I've already expended my travel budget for the year so if I'm going to ask for the wifey's forgiveness it will be when we head to Richmond, KY to knock of EKU in the first round of the playoffs.

Ya, I'm 3:45 from Macomb and 5 hrs from Richmond, however maybe we will bid higher

The only team in the conference that would have a shot at a winning MVFC record would be Jacksonville St

Actually, that 2010 season was a large reason why we got the field turf put in for 2011. Literally every home game had at least some rain and two of them (including the one against you guys) were played in essentially a downpour most of the game. For those of you who might not remember, here was the box score for it. We may have ended up with 403 total yards, but only 19 passing yards (by the QB who ended up second place in the Payton Award voting that year). The rain completely shut down any passing game by either team. If I remember correctly, your QB Fouch was one of the big strengths of your team that year, and the rain shut down his passing as well 52 yards, 0 TDs. We, luckily, had one of the best RBs in the FCS at that point as well, and he pretty much made the difference. By the end of the season, the field looked like it'd been bombarded by artillery.

For any of you guys making the trip over to the game this next weekend, weather at this point is projected to be a high of 40 and ~60% chance of rain...just something to be aware of when you're planning gameday attire.

Definitely going! On a recommendation from a WIU HOF'r, taking the train to Macomb. It has to be better than driving there. Yes I was at the 2010 game in which Flowers/Ray couldn't be stopped (300+ yards rushing). We should have ridden Brock Lough; he was the only one of our running backs that could move (Gates had 50 yards and Bell had 23 on 10 carries). WIU had all of 19 yards passing--think we could have changed our defensive philosophy?? That game was payback by WIU for giving us our only win in 2009.

If you're coming down from the Chicago area, then yea, taking the train is a great option. Should get to town just a bit after 11, there's a few restaurants within a couple of blocks of the train station if you want a bite to eat, and then you can take the free bus service to campus (probably 7-Black would work best).
The game should be over by ~4 PM, which should give you plenty of time to grab dinner and catch the bus back downtown to the train station to leave at ~6:18 PM.

If anyone coming over would like any recommendations for places to eat, transportation, etc. just let me know. Obviously we're hoping for a different result than you guys are, but otherwise I hope you have a good time.

I can never remember the name of the place, but there is bar/restaurant on the courthouse square that I've been to a couple of times and really like. They specialize in chicken lips, I think.

Dunno, aren't you supposed to tank so you can get a higher draft pick?
