I saw yesterday that Austin Peay has a player getting 1.3 million this year. APS is somewhat similar to ISU. They have 11,000 students to our7,500. They are a state school and have no law school or medical school. They have a foundation of $45,300,00 compared to our $30,017,943. Their list of alumni doesn't look that impressive and their donor list doesn't have a lot of recognizable names.
I just don't understand how they can pay a player $1.3 million dollars a year.
I get the premise of question in general, but you already outlined a lot of the reasons why they can afford such a payment. Their enrollment is 47% larger than ours and their endowment is over 50% larger. I honestly don’t see how we’re that comparable.

I tried to go snoop on FAUs board to see what they're saying and trying to navigate their forum gave me a headache. Just want to give a shout out to Jason and say thanks for all you do keeping this site going and easy to use.

Where did you source your "ISU Endowment" amount?

The official ISU Annual Report for 2022-2023 provides the following:

Are you spitballing? Pulling from a different source or not believe what they are reporting?

Heckuva difference between your $30,017,943 to their reported $102,292,885...

I googled it

We are barely over a week away from tipping off the 2024-2025 season

So…..it’s time to hypothesize on the topic of starting lineups

I will go with

Cook
Teel
Summers
Gray
Harding

Could be that Daughtry starts over Summers

If Summers doesn’t start then I will put him or Doughty as first off the bench

Yeah it's tough to gauge out sycamores this year. but here I go

Starter Minutes:
Samage Teel: He is a senior and put up pretty solid numbers at Presbyterian last year. Shot 42% from 3 last year. You aren't keeping that on the bench with our young bunch.
Markus Harding: Started every game he suited up for at CMU and was a double digit scorer. He will be a big piece for us this season.
Tyran Cook: Another guy that was a double digit scorer at the D1 level. Has to be a good athlete with that vertical of his.
Aaron Gray: Didn't show us too much last year, but also was put in a pretty tough situation to do so. I think he has something to prove this year and has a Jayson Kent type jump in his production. Not saying he plays like Kent did but I think he will have a pretty big jump.
Jahni Summers: He is the one recruit I'm most excited to see. Could take a little bit to get his feet under him at the D1 level but he has all the tools to be a good one here.

In the hunt/Bledson type role:
Jaden Daughtry: There just wasn't enough minutes for him last year. Hopefully he improved his conditioning and wouldn't be shocked to see him be a starter.
Derek Vorst: Tough to get minutes with Avila and Bledson last year. I think Harding get's the nod to start but Vorst is going to get plenty of opportunities this season.
K'mani Doughty: Never been much of a scorer but seems like a guy that can guard 1-4 and has been around the block for a while. He reminds me of a Jake Wolf type guy, 7th-8th off the bench and won't make too many mistakes.

Role Player
Camp Wagner: Seems like a typically 3 point specialist. Zach Hobbs comes to mind when I think of the role.

Complete mysteries:
Merritt Alderink: Who the hell knows
Josiah LeGree: Who the hell knows
Jayan Walker: Who the hell knows
Bruno Alocen: Who the hell knows
Cooper Bean: Who the hell knows
Caden Huttenlocker: Who the hell knows

Good news, we do have 4 guys on the roster that have averaged double figures at the D1 level, 3 others with D1 experience that can do their role, and a pretty good looking JUCO guy. Can't wait to see what we look like!

My guess:

Teel/Cook/Hurtenlocker
Wagner/Doughty
Summers/Walker
Gray/Daughtry/Alderlink
Harding/Vorst

Cooper- Have no idea
LeGree - Redshirt
Bruno - Redshirt

With all due respect to Bean and Huttenlocker, they are walk-ons and will not be in the equation for significant (to put it nicely) minutes.

The more I think about it, I think we could absolutely be in a strong position with Harding and Vorst at the 5. In Harding, we've got a proven D1 starter and in Vorst, I see a guy who more than held his own as a freshman. Yes he had limited minutes, but of those limited minutes, he played against Alabama and every one of our NIT opponents.

How many MVC teams have two 6'10'' guys that can switched in and out without any let down?

And to bring it back to our game vs FAU, well, they have three guys who are 6'11" or taller and one of them is a potential NBA prospect....soooo....there's that.

For FAU, they have a new coach, 3 returning players (RS-Jr, RS-Fr, RS-Fr), and the rest are new players. They have a 7 footer (Fr) and two 6'11 players (Jr, Fr) but we have more D1 experience.

Yeah I'm not too concerned going forward with the 5. I think we have two capable options, the might not be what we saw last year at the position but they should be just fine going through the valley.

Where the worry comes in is 3-4 positions. We lost Kent, Bledson, and Conwell (he was just the biggest guard we had). We have Summers, Daughtry, Doughty, Gray looking to replace that production. I hope Daughtry mimics what Kent did last year as I don't think Daughtry is a great passer and doesn't really look to pass. If he cuts and is just the recipient to 12 of the easiest PPG you can imagine I'm fine with that. While serviceable I don't think counting on Doughty as a scorer is a winning philosophy. That leaves Summers and Gray as guys that can be a Swiss Army knife and do a little bit of everything.

Anyone else surprised at the coverage (or lack thereof) from the TribStar about the season getting ready to tip off?

A week away and there are more articles on the Indiana WNBA team than Sycamore basketball

Yeah, I'm seeing no tickets on any site anywhere. At least it's on Gray Media.
I'm not seeing anything that confirms that it is on Gray Media, I checked my local Gray affiliate's programming schedule and I don't see it.
Do you guys have any info as for the broadcast of the game?

Liberty’s schedule lists Gray Media and they’re the game before us in the same event. But I don’t see anything confirming our game.
