This would be a nice win to start off the season. Unfortunately, between guys coming off injuries that haven't practiced much and others who can't play, I'm going to with Testacle State 75, ISU 64.

Take care of the ball. Defend like a SOB. Rebound. We will have a chance on the road - we have to compete at both ends and bring the energy. I'm excited to see what these guys are made of. Arguably two of our better players are going to be out for a month. Either these guys are going to use that as an excuse or they are going to compete like hell trying to prove something. I'm not worried about the outcome of this one - I just want to see us take care of the ball, defend and rebound decently. That's what I'm going to be watching.

This one will heavily be on the coaches and how they allow our guys to match up I'd think.

Are they going to let JB try to guard the 6'3" Persons again? He basically just went to the basket all day long last time we played them. In their exhibition against UIndy, I don't even think he played (suspended for violation of team rules) but all three guys that had standout games are guys we offered or inquired about in Mallers, Teague and Walton.

Walton is a big time athlete that can get to the rim so we're likely going to get a steady does of driving and drive/kick to shooters. Both individual and team defense is going to have to be on point to win this game.

Ball State should be a very good team this year. Their Center is questionable, so that would help if he is out or limited. I think you put Key on Persons, but then again Walton likes to play some physical ball.. So either way JB better have his big boy pants on. I guess you could go Holston on one of the guards and then have JB chase Mallers around..Bottom line is we need to play well to have a shot.

Yep, them having two physical guards, both with height and that are proficient at taking it to the rim poses a serious issue for us. I would have loved to have this game with Neese and Williams eligible.

I know the staff doesn't like using it, but Ball State has the personnel where a zone defense may be good in spurts.

I wonder about their ability to rebound out of that defensive set. There were lots of heads turning to the ball last year when we went zone and not much in the way of locating a body to block out. It will be interesting to see how many segments of the game it gets deployed.

I think you're pretty spot-on. BSU isn't worlds better than us by any means, but we don't matchup very well with them on the perimeter. I think we keep it close, but I'm not expecting a road dub to start the year.

should be a good game, obviously keys to the game for us will be how well we rebound and how well we shoot free throws, if we can equal, or be close to, BSU's rebound total and shoot greater than 77% from the FT line we'll give ourselves a chance, otherwise I see BSU winning by 10+ points.

Anyone else heading to Muncie to watch this one live? If so, know if they have a Syc section I can get tix in to sit with like minded fans.

Yeah I really don't think this is going to be close. I'm guessing we get it handed to us pretty good - but we will see. Ball state by 14.

I was skeptical about our chances in this game, now I'm feeling pretty decent about it. Our guys will step up!

Sycamores by 4. Don't care the final score... just that it is a W.

Key or Barnes (whomever Ball State doesn't key on) will have 25+ points.

We'll get an unsuspecting performance out of someone.

I think that someone is going to have to be Devin Thomas tonight. We're going to need someone to step up and be a third option offensively while holding his own on the defensive side.

Ball State was 19-13 last year and return 4 very experienced players in Parsons, Mallers, Teague and Moses. They beat us last year in Terre Haute, have another year of experience under their belts, and they're playing at home. If we can manage to pull this one out, I'll be extremely pleased.

Thomas is going to definitely have his hands full tonight defensively, so if anything, I'd love a plus game from him there. If Moses is cleared to play (believe he was in sweats for the UIndy game), that is obviously Rickman's draw so that would put Thomas on the stretch 4 in Mallers/Teague, both who can play inside/out.

Definitely a manhood challenge for the entire group of bigs tonight.
