I know that Drew Keil was lost the first couple games of the season with torn ligements in his thumb. They still can put up points, and I believe 15 freshman played for Illinois St. last week, but if we come in and leave it all on the field we have a great shot. The worrie I have is I have been talking to some of the players I am in class with and they are sayin football is just "not fun" anymore, that might be a problem.

That might be because the professors in some of their classes make fun of the football team, and every kid they meet around the campus does the same. The kids I guess have every right to say and do as they think, even though they should maybe consider the work that goes into it, and the frustration that the players have. The professors calling the team out in classes? This is classless and idiotic. Maybe the Dean should look into this, and find out if these professors enjoy their employment. None of the players likes losing any more than anyone on this board or anyone on campus. They are trying to do something about it--what about the rest of the crowd?

Now I right there with you, I will rep the ISU football team till I die, wins or none, but I truely dont think its the professors calling them out, I mean who is gonna to call out the team in front of Jacolby Washington or Darrius Gates. I know they are frustrated about not winning and I understand they are, but you dont give up hope, you dont half ass practice. The coaching staff hasnt given up or they wouldnt be moving coaches around in practice to try something new....We need a spark, and I know not winning doesnt give you that spark but you should use that as motovation, as anger and turn it into rage on the field. We need to play with Swagger with emotion, play like the old Miami Hurricanes (less thugs though) all it takes is one player to bring that emotion into practice and it becomes contagious (or however u spell it) they should think never to give up and fight until we die, and until we get that attitude we just show up on Saturdays and hope...not want or we will win, we will just hope

Maybe Professors are "calling them out" but I would guess it is more a questioning the need for football in the grand scheme of things by professors than it is "calling out players". Maybe I am wrong, I am not a current student. But my experience is that the "academic side" of the house, doesn't like athletics in general (that is a generalization, some profs love athletics). Many profs, think that an institution of Higher Education is just that and athletics are not a part of that thoery. Plus, when a professor is Tenured, he/she can pretty much say whatever they want...I don't think it is right, but it is the reality.

I personally think athletics is a vital part of the college experience. I am only stating, what perhaps, the profs are doing and/or thinking in the classroom. And also pointing out that Tenure is a great thing and a curse at the same time.

Why cant the football team be picked on? Should we just allow them to walk around campus and say oh its ok you guys lost to Quincy or oh its ok, you lost 34-0 or 62-7. It's ridiculous the way they act around school.

Yeah, I'd like to hear about the "ridiculous way they act around school". What, specifically are you talking about? And like I said, the students are one thing--they can do and say whatever the hell they please (although if they are and they are not playing, maybe they should think about how well they would do playing). The professors are a different story. Yes, I know for a fact they are basically making fun of the program and the losing streak during class time. This is "a RIDICULOUS way to act around school".

my $.02

Most of the professors I had treated the athletes like the rest of the student body; some went so far as to 'let be known' they'll be no special treatment; ie, "when you're going to miss class because of a game, let me know beforehand. Yes, I know the schedule but tell me anyway."

One to two profs were more upset that people in general only associated the LB era of MBB as ISU Athletics; vice the long, storied MBB and Baseball success; not to mention the Gymnastics and Wrestling success.

back on topic, it'll be interesting to see how the Indiana State freshman and sophomores match up with the Illinois State freshman and sophomores. Both teams are fairly young I think. If Indiana State's defense can produce yet another great effort, then we may have a shot, but we'll see what the offense can do??

If Indiana State score an offensive TD against ISU red's 1st team it will be a good day.
