We need to make a statement in this game right here! We have two wins and now it is time to show we can beat a conference foe. We know this is the best game to win all year too! It's homecoming, lets go Trees! (:

this game is really going to tell us alot about how far ISU football has come, it's going to be very interesting to see how it goes. Hopefully a win for the home team

two homecoming wins in a row???? I think so lets go state!!!!!!!!!!! and for those who want to see player interviews starting tuesday thru game time I will be doing player interviews! only available thru supporting membership so sign up today!

I'd like to be more confident but after sitting in the rain in Macomb and watching WIU roll over us, I'm not sure. I'm obviously hopeful and will be making the trip to TH this weekend for the game. Very excited, very hopeful. I'd say our secondary needs to rise to the occasion as much as anyone. Redbirds have been scoring a lot of points.

This IS INSU's signature game of 2010, if they can pull it off. maximum effort, never let up. This win will make headlines and send shock waves through the Valley!!

:sycamores:

Cap'n Cat, I see us actually taking advantage of ISU red's aggressiveness...we will bring the pressure alot...I know Rick Minter has some all time great defensive blitzs in his day so hopefully we see all fo them satrurday!

Now is the time to have a large, loud student body behind the team at the game. Weather is supposed to be great; now let's pack the stands.

Hi guys,

Redbird fan planning on making the trip to TH. Anything I should know? What is the parking, tailgating, and ticket situation?

Hope everyone has a great Homecoming Week. See ya Saturday!

Parking/tailgating is free. Just show up and park in the grass around the West/North side of the stadium. Tickets will run $12 for Homecoming if I remember reading correctly and you can get a program at the game for $2. Hope you have a great time but go home with a loss.

Thanks for the info! I can guarantee ISU will win, but I won't say anymore.:D

Greenwell tells me Fouch is the 2nd coming of Joe Namath (jk) and we can't defend the pass so we might see some fireworks.

Is there any chance that we won't be able to get a ticket due to Homecoming if we wait until the day of?

This is an interesting matchup to say the least. Right now, Illinois State is ranked 110/117 in total defense, so I'm optimistic our offense should be able to score on them. Additionally, their offensive strength is their passiing game (ranked 26th in FCS) and our passing defense is ranked 8th overall in FCS. Something obviously has to give.

Doubtful. But if you're for sure coming you could always call up the ticket office and have them left at will call. 812.237.3737.

I've just been giving you a hard time. He seems to be a good pick-up. And trust me; we ILSU fans know a thing or two about FBS transfers...:D

2 questions,
1 whats up with your very conservative defense?
2 are ur transfers as good as u thought they would be?

1: My guess is as good as yours. We seem to go with "bend but don't break" strategy with very soft short coverage, but we "break" quite a bit...

2: I'll go through them one at a time...

Wisconsin: Shelby Harris, DE, RS-FR- Starting. 19 tackles in 5 games.
We may have expected too much from him. He was 4* out of high school, but he's still just a redshirt freshman. He has a ton of upside, but still needs to get stronger.

Wisconsin: Leonard Hubbard, LB, SO- Back-up LB. 3 tackles in 5 games.
A solid backup if our starters get hurt.

Wisconsin: Erik Smith, RB, SO- "Lightning" starter. 5.2 ypc, 58.2 ypg in 5 games. Very big addition to a team that needed a burst out of the backfield.

Wisconsin: Otis Merrill, DB, JR- Back-up DB. 2 tackles in 4 games.
Put it this way: If he was good enough, he would starting in a team that can't stop the pass.

Illinois: Bo Flowers, DB, Super SR- Back-up Safety. 1 tackle in 2 games.
Very strange situation. Played minor league baseball, then played football for the Illini and now he's at ISU using his last year of eligibilty. He's either 26 or 27 now.

Illinois: Adam Rebholz, S, RS FR- Hasn't played.
He's a local kid. His brother is the starting LS.

Michigan St: Ashton Leggett, RB, JR- "Thunder" starter. 4.3 ypc, 57.8 ypg in 5 games.
Another great addition to our backfield. When we've needed a yard he's been able to get it.

Minnesota: EJ Jones, CB, SR- Starter. 19 tackles, 3 interceptions in 5 games.
Struggled early in the season, but is much improved. He's the best DB we have.

Indiana: Milton Owens, DT, JR- Back-up. 2 tackles in 5 games.
We might see him more now with X-Man (see below) gone, but we have many capable DTs. Very difficult to crack the rotation.

Kansas State: Xzavier Stewart, DT- Starting until he got thrown off the team last week. 14 tackles and a sack in 4 games.

Eastern Michigan: Marvon Sanders, WR, JR- Starter. 96.6 ypg, 2 TDs in 5 games.
He is the key to this offense right now. He is probably the most important of all of the transfers. He's tiny, but can play football.

Buffalo: Albert Sparks, DT, RS FR- Back-up.
I don't believe he has played yet, but is also very young. When Gill left Buffalo for Kansas he looked for a place to land and chose ISU very late this summer.

So as you can see, it's been a mixed bag. I will say that we wouldn't be 3-2 without these guys. Many of them are the glue that holds this team together right now, and I see bright futures for the younger guys.

So you have 5-6 FBS transfers starting. If I'm thinking about this right I think the talent pretty much evens out. We have Fouch from Washinton, 3 JUCO recievers who easily could have been FBS guys, and of course Shakir Bell (Parade All American). We also picked up a pair of linebackers who are backups with Josh Scott from UTEP and Phil Walker from Marshall. Also we got Coy Glass (QB) from Hofstra (slated to be their starter this year). From my end it looks fairly comparable on a talent level on the field as far as new additions go. ILS may have a depth advantage as far as new transfers go, but only 11 can play at one time and I think this game will be a tough battle into the 4th quarter with an ISU BLUE win of course!
