Well, as has been discussed on here, it looks as though the voters look no deeper than scoring stats. Perhaps rebounding, too. Colt Ryan? Seriously over Jake? Whatever...

im not surprised. i do think J.O. deserved first team and or freshman/newcomer of the year award, but this is not new situation for indiana state. harry was left off first team last year as well.
 
Hopefully we can get a Sycamore to be a Scholar Athlete. Maybe Carter?
I would Bet Cuanzo Martin gets COY.

Let's have ISU players for All Tourney Team and Tourney MVP. Now THAT would be nice!
 
How in the world did we finish third in the conference? I mean really. We don't have anyone on the team that can get any respect. We should have finished eighth or nineth in the league...at least if you go with how much the rest of the conference feels about us.

Take it to ST LOUIE men and remember we know you can play. Earn some R E S P E C T.

Holy Cow. Knew we would get hosed, but this is even worse than I thought. Kwadzo Ahelegbe was the defensive player of the year?? Go check his 2 games against us. He got shut down by Jake twice and Jake went off in the last meeting between the two teams. I mean what does he get the award for? Being a senior? Having a cool name?

Kinda figured Richard and Odum might get hosed on the all valley teams but the defensive player thing just puts me over the edge.

Side note- Creighton ends up with a first team player, second team player, and an all defensive team player and they finish a couple games behind a team that had just 2 honorable mention player. Ummm either something aint right or their coach deserves to get the worst coach of the year honor. Oh well hope our boys get ahold of this before Friday! I know it would motivate the hell out of me!

If I was Lansing I would hang a copy of this on the front of every man's locker. Nothing more would need to be said!

We just need to go out and kick some "all-conference ass"..................3 for the Dance!

Amen. We get to see all conference player like Colt Ryan first, then Durley and Toure Murry <---WTF were they thinking!, and then either CU or MSU is a team full of all conference players. Sounds like we should not even go to St. Louis with that lineup in front of us! We are just a bunch of nobodies ;)

We didn't improve THAT much over last year's results - I guess we did in conference. My point being that we were pretty good last year, too.

Also, he might not have been recognized for the top honors, but Jake's name appears in more places on that list of awards and honors than just about anyone else. I certainly don't think he was ignored. Good to see Carl get some well deserved recognition as well.

Give him one or the other -- NOT BOTH!

And while we improved our conf record; our overall record remained virtually the same.

Mo State's overall record was virtually the same but their conf record was vastly improved.

Carl also should have been 1st Team All-MVC; NOT Honorable Mention!

I would think the team award would go to the Bears but you never know. ISUb did get left off in places I thought I would see them. I am not a voter however I think that the local talk show host here in springfield might be right all the posturing and look at me attitude ISUb took may have hurt them from the other voters across the league.

WTF? An example of this please! If you are referring to fans, then that is the most assenign thing i've ever heard. Fan is short for "fanatic" meaning that we are crazy for OUR team. Fans say things all the time that are dumb or over the top....BUT WE'RE FANS. Where in the hell did anyone from the team or athletic department say something over the top. We finished 12-6 in conference with several freshman playing significant minutes and not having a couple of key players for awhile....THAT IS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF....AND WE ARE.
 
Reallly??? So the look at me attitude? IF the voters vote off of that, they shouldnt be voting...seriously...watch a game for christs sake, I have never seen anyone who sits down and watches Odum or Carl plays and has the opinion that those two wouldnt start for just about every team in the valley.

The look at me attitude on MVCFans is that what you are referencing? Point out facts of an award that was already decided? Give me a break, people don't read MVCFans or sycamorepride for that matter to determine who they are going to vote for these awards.

The way the voting turned out it's clear to me that very little time and effort is put into the determination of these awards. Because honestly we didn't need to "posture" for our team/players to receive the recognition they deserved, they did the talking all season long - the truth was in the stats and our 3rd place finish. Now if you take a step back and honestly think that was indicated in how the voting came out then I respect that and we have nothing further to talk about. Granted I wouldn't agree with you but look the people on this forum saw the writing on the wall 2 weeks ago - we have polls around here to prove it. You basically had 2 camps of people on this site:

1. The delusional camp that I spear headed that kidded ourselves into not only knowing that Jake Odum was deserving, but yet that other voters would see the truth in the numbers as well and if they didn't then maybe somehow by posting on a message board (posturing) we could change that. So fair enough some posturing went on, but that may have hurt our perception across league fan circles but that had NO barring on the voting - none!

2. The camp that thought Jake Odum was deserving the award but he was simply not more deserving than McDermott.

Basically these camps were split 40/60 and that was on our own site - people don't come on here to see what we think to decide who they are going to vote for or not vote for that's clear. Everyone can form their own conclusions.
