Senior Robby Ort tagged a two-run triple into the gap in right-center field in the bottom of the seventh inning and junior Kurt Kudrecki pitched two strong innings out of the Indiana State bullpen sending the Sycamores to their fourth straight win on the season following a 4-3 victory over the visiting Ball State Cardinals.

ISU gets the win, 4-3, with Tyler Fehringer (2-2) getting the win and Kurt Kudrecki getting his third save. A good game against a tougher opponent. Kudrecki has now pitched 39 innings 26 appearances and if he maintains his ERA below 1.51 (he's now at 1.10), he could go into the record books as the best ERA in ISU history. Brian Omogrosso set the record in 2006 with a 1.51 ERA. The minimum number of innings is 40 to qualify. Kudrecki is the best reliever since Scott Harlan in 2010, who compiled a 1.54 ERA in 33 appearances and 33.1 innings.

Fehringer getting the win is a farce...w/ score knotted @ 2 in the top of the 7th he walked a batter then had two consecutive wild pitches that allowed a Cards score, placing ISU in the hole @ 3-2. He only allowed 1 hit over 3 1/3 innings, so I guess he wasn't all that bad, given the ISU need for LONG RELIEF.

Syc Vision didn't allow the opportunity to see the blown coverage @ 2B during the top of the 7th Cards SB. The throw by Fitzgerald was on the money, but Hannahs was late covering and missed the catch/tag. I'll bet his dad wasn't too happy w/ that play! A team simply can't have those type of fundamental blunders if they expect to get anywhere. I actually thought that the throw could've more easily been handled by the SS, who could see the whole play. Both Hannahs & Pearson were shifted slightly to RF, which placed Hannahs at a disadvantage when covering 2B.

For a big dude, Ort sure can churn the base paths. He continues to make good contact, but doesn't have the HR stroke of '12.
Many of his hits are where you ideally want 'em (CF), but for that power stroke, he's gotta jump more on those inside pitches, if the P screws up and accidentally serves one.
