How many games will Indiana State Football win this season?

I don't think it was to soon to post this question... Just like to see what you all thought.

We blew 3 games last year that should have been easy wins. We basically gave those games away. SEMO, Mizzery St, and at Youngstown State.

If a couple of plays would have gone our way, we would have also won at NDSU and at home to UNI.

Therefore, I vote more than 2 wins.

Still a young and improving team, so I would be happy with two wins. Quincy needs to be a confidence builder though. We don't win that one, we might not win a game.

I think the odds of more wins (over 3) will be higher if the Wyoming QB enrolls at ISU. Otherwise it's hard to tell.

Any idea when he'll decide?

Youth and inexperience, no doubt.

I honestly don't care how many games are won this year. I think you can't accurately judge until this past year's freshmen are seniors. That ways Miles would have had ample time to recruit and coach up players for his system.

That's true to a degree, especially since that class was supposed to be so good (although that changes somewhat minus Schmitdke), but I think years five and six would be a better point at which to judge Miles' performance. Obviously, he has to be winning at least some games before that. A strong QB would go a long way to turning things around. I think we could be considerably better by years three and four depending on how the roster plays out.

i would love to see us win 2 games. I know we have the talent it's just the team play that i have questions about. We have a great coach in my opinion who i have spoken with and can tell he is an excellent football coach. So talent wise we have some playmakers to win 2 games but a strong qb would be a great addition, a deep o-line would be good to, considering we were weak at the o-line last year due to injuries. So im going to give them 2 wins don't know which one but im hoping quincy game is one of them. But that first win is the all important one

although you played very well the first 2 quarters, it wasn't a close contest in the second half, but I will admit that a couple plays go your way and we would have been in desperation mode. and honestly this year is looking worse, but our 2009 recruiting class was pretty good so the future looks bright:) except at QB:censored:

Yeah, I've been lurking over at Bisonville, and you have some people seemingly about to jump off the cliff because of some QB problems. Your fans just don't have perspective, tjbison!!! Just have them imagine what it would be like to try and figure out if you can win TWO games this year - and for that to be a major step forward!!!

LOL, its a mass suicide somedays over there and I'll admit i've been roped into the threads also, but i can tell its the offseason, lots of those posters don't realize some of the talent we have, but were better off redshirted or maturing a year. I really hope for you guys that you land this Wyo kid it should really help out!

I should also add that because of our Tradition and school emphasis on FB, our fans EXPECT WINS, and will basically settle for nothing but perfection. sometimes its bad but then again sometimes its good, keeps the powers that be making right choices, as scholorship money rides on it!!

i know this will probably honk off some people...but...lol...

i honestly don't think that the loss of schmidtke is going to be all that big of an issue, other than thinning the depth at quarterback during the spring....i think that he was over-rated talent-wise from the start....and from what i can gather, most of those involved in the program weren't all that upset to see him leave....

yes, he had been signed by washington state...but from talking to people out that way, they doubted if he would have lasted there very long even if he hadn't had all of his off-field legal woes while a high school senior...

his on-field issues at indiana state included attitude, attitude and attitude....as in poor, bad, terrible....his smallish stature...and he wasn't very coachable....his off-field issues most people know about by now...he couldn't seem to stay out of trouble....

now, all that being said, i don't have a problem with trent giving him a second chance by bringing him in to indiana state....sometimes you hit a home run doing that...and sometimes you strike out....excuse me ncaa, lol, but it's a roll of the dice in those types of situations....

I totally agree with this. I wasn't really impressed by him from what I saw. He wasn't worth the off-field trouble. I voted more than two due to the improvement I saw at the end of the year...Some of those games were winnable.

The overly optomistic sycamorehoops.com!

I guess I should have made this poll over/under 5 wins this season. I can't believe the amount of people that think this team is going to win more than 2 games. Ofcourse you all are better fans than me because I am not being positive and keeping an open mind...

Glad to see that you recognized that...

Seriously, look at who we play, and how we were playing last season. I will go to my grave before I will concede that Quincy will beat us. Sorry, that's just my blue blood coming through. Might be wrong, but I'm never going to concede defeat to a D-II school before the game is played!!! There's one win.

We really should have beaten Mizzery State last year. Even on the road, that's a very possible win. There's two.

Our game at Youngstown State was a good game for us. With a year's experience and playing them at home, we could possibly eeek out a win there, too. That's three.

Of course, none of this is close to certain, but I don't think that three wins is nuts, either. And when we get there, Morgan, you'll be the first to start the celebration!!!! I'm serious about that. You want a winner just like the rest of us. You're just a crotchety old geezer. (kidding!) I'm just hoping that the three wins plateau is this coming season, not in 2012!!!!

Thought to upping my prediction

I was on previous posting predicting 3 wins this year. I may have to change that. If we get this transfer QB from Wyoming, we may win 4 or 5. He has that much talent from what I've read. As for the original prediction, I heard Ron Zook of Illini fame speak one time about rebuilding a program. He said it takes at least 4 years. He said the first year is feeling out, and you try to hold down the blowouts, while teaching the players to compete. The second year you are continuing to teach the team to compete and win, and those blowouts turn into close losses, with a few wins sprinkled in for morale. The third year you continue to teach the kids how to win, and the close losses turn into a few more close wins. Year 4 and/or 5 is where it all starts to come together, and the close wins turn into convincing wins. This pattern makes complete sense here at ISU. Now, most instant gratification fans don't want to hear 4 or 5 years. However, especially with a desolate program like ISU's was when Trent took over, this time frame is realistic. I am not saying Zook is a mastermind, but if you look at his track record, he has been following this. He was never given 5 years at Florida, and this is year 5 in Champaign, so we shall see if it works for him. I personally think it will work for him, and Trent as well. Go Trees!

Ha ITF it never fails....

But yeah I am totally ready for us to win more than 2 games. I would be down with a good ole fashion celebration! lol

I would be happy to get to the 1 win plateau... You seem so optimistic that we will get 3 wins it's so encouraging. I mean with an EEEEEEEK EEEEEEK here and an EEEEEEEK EEEEEEEK their, heck we might EEEEEEEK are way to .500.

and here I thought I was being positive saying I thought we were going to win an even 2 games.

With an eeek, eeek here
And and eeek, eeek there
Here an eeek
There an eeek
Everywhere an eeek, eeek...

Between the two of us, we could really lower the IQ of people reading this thread!!!

How about this - I'll weigh in again on the possibility we win more than 2 games next November!!!! I'll have a much better idea at that point...

You kill me...

What sport?

It is obvious that it is football but it would help if the sport was identified in the poll title. There are new subscribers every week, aren't there?

Yeah that was my bad... Once you publish the poll you are not allowed to edit the poll. But like you said it's pretty obvious what we are talking about here. I know you have probably created 4 user names just so you can boast the poll results in your favor and piss me off anyways. So what's it matter! :imslow:

I'll give us Quincy, YSU, Mo State, and a thriller against EIU for 4, that's right 4, on the year. A possibility of a 5 with WIU. for some reason we tend to play them well.
