Not a positive legacy for Penn State...the university. When coupled with the Paterno "family" letter, the coverup is MAGNIFIED. Whatever happened to TRUTH & INTEGRITY? How has sport in America been allowed to so freely dictate a misplacement of human values? 14 'friggin years...that can be documented...

The report says the main cause of the University's failure was a desire to avoid bad publicity. Also contributing:

* A striking lack of empathy for child abuse victims.
* Lack of oversight by the board of trustees.
* A president who discouraged discussion and dissent.
* Ignorance of child abuse issues and laws.
* A football program that had opted out of university programs and training on reporting requirements.
* A culture of reverence for the football program that is ingrained at all levels of the campus community.

The BIG question...how many U.S. colleges & unviversities are following in the same footsteps with no desire for REFORM?

Penn State aided and abetted a child molester for over a decade.

Paterno and the rest of the Penn State kooks are just as guilty as Jerry Sandusky IMO. I hope the NCAA comes down hard on them. Sandusky used the Penn State football program to fence his enterprise and not two shits were given. As someone else posted on Twitter... JoePa, I want my RIP back.

This story is indeed very sad for the victims who might have been spared had these grown adults come forward when they were first made aware of the situation. The fact that supposedly honest citizens in a position of power chose to ignore these acts and even cover them up to preserve their own lifestyle is criminal at least. They should all be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
