My main concern for this would be this from the article

"While Rudakas is leaving the door ajar, I doubt that he'll play again, at least not at an organized level. His heart doesn't seem to be into it and I give him credit for not going through with it because he feels an obligation. It wouldn't be the first time -- nor the last -- that a child kept playing sports for someone other than himself or herself."

Im assuming that this is the writers point of view. Being a walk-on, knowing that playing time is not only not promised, but probably not going to be there, is a tough position to be in if your heart is not in it.

I wish the kid well, and if he isnt playing, hope he is in the stands supporting next years team.

He was a good HS player. I've seen him play. I don't believe he would contribute. I think he is under the illusion that it would be easy to compete at ISU for a spot on the team. A lot of players underestimate the skill necessary to compete in college.

To be a walk on your heart better be in it or you're never going to play and you'll be worthless to the team. A walk on has to do a lot more than just watch the games and shoot around with the team.

Any reason he couldn't participate in 'open tryouts' with the team? If his heart is in it, great, if not, so be it.

Andrew is a very solid player; we played against him the season before last. He is strong and has good skills as well.

He actually won the 2A state tourney at Wheeler this year.

If he decides to play, I wish him the best of luck.
