Unlike some of you, I prefer to wait and see the team before I make any outlandishly incorrect assesments of our team and that includes our record.

Most of you aint going to be happy with this or like this, I aint saying I'm happy with it either - I'm just saying this is what I predict.

Overall: 15-15
Non Conference: 7-5
Conferece: 8-10

Debate, comment or feel free to post your own prediction! Remember, this isn't about what would make you happy or sad! In a perfect world we'd win 20 games every year! I find the world to be rather imperfect so .500 it is.

Speaking only to the non conference, I think we will beat St. Louis, I think we will beat Ball State, but I think we will lose at Iona. Those are the only non-con. games that I would disagree with you on.

I have us at 8-4 in the non conference and 9-9 in the league. I certainly dont see anything outlandish with your prediction, but I think we will win a few more games. I think beating Missouri State at home or Loyola on the road would be where I picked up the additional victory. I also see us losing to Iona but beating Ball state.I think the additional non conference win will be over Butler at home.

Besides Tre, my other question is, without Burnett, can we play Bell and Murphy together. In other words, can we go big at forward when Gant is out?

I had previously predicted 22 wins, but I think I may have to lower that to 18 without Burnett and based on Tre's progress so far. Murphy is probably a plus for me, but he will have problems defensively. I'm still comfortable with our 3 guards. I don't remember having 3 guards as quick as they are and they shoot pretty well also.

I think its hard to predict right now.
1. Predicting off what you saw from the team without Scott and Etherington.
2. They only played against a D3 opponent.

With that said, I think its better to wait after the IUPUI game to start predicting the whole season. I think we will beat IUPUI.

We can but Bell doesn't have a motor - he got lost on D a few times yesterday. Granted he was playing a guard or small forward sized player most of the game and they could step out and shoot it. But he will face bigs in the MVC who can also step out and shoot it and he can't be late or lost - he was yesterday.

We should go big when Gant is out, however Murphy or Bell can not play the 3. So big with him out would be like Brown, Etherington, Smith, Murph, Bell - does that make sense??

Well I've seen Scott and Etherington so I'm not like discounting them and what they can do.

I'm not making predictions just on what I saw vs. Trine, you may or may not realize this but when making a prediction you actually have to take the other team into consideration!

You also may not know or care, but I did this for fun! So I don't give a flip if I am right or wrong - I wanted to know what people thought! My comments about other people making predictions before seeing the team play is whatever, I really don't care what people on here do or don't do! Personally I wanted to see some of the new players and what they brought to the table before I started counting wins and losses! I reiterate the point, I created this thread and picked wins and losses at the start of the season for FUN! Not really about being right or wrong!

So that said, you can go ahead and get with us after the IUPUI game! :) Things change as the season goes on, people get hurt, momentum shifts a lot can happen and I understand that!

My hope was other folks would come up with a overall, non conference and confrence win/loss.

Would you like me to delete the post, because I will as I've been flagged as restricted.

I was mainly wondering if we have backup 4. I guess, depending on match ups, Bell or Murphy could do it. If we are matching up with a smaller 4 or one that scores outside, we could go smaller and guard him.

Last year was the first year in approx 15 years in which we didn't have a four game losing streak during the season...I surely hope we don't bring that trend back.

IUPUI scares me.
St. Louis does not.
Ball State does not.
Butler does.
Iona does.

Vegas, unfortunately, it's gonna take an upset for us to get a win out West. Doubtful. But I can't wait to witness the games in person!

UE, UNI, WSU, IlSt all scare me in conference...SIU and MSU scare me on the road.

I'm hoping we can reach the 18 win milestone during the regular season, with a 2011-esque tourney run.

Speaking while using my head--you may well be right. Using my heart I will bsatisfied with wins over Ball State and Butler in the non0con and Evansville and Wichita State in Valley play. That would put us at 19 or 20 wins.

I just won't be able to answer until I see a game against like D1 competition.

That said, if Lansing somehow wins 20 games with this bunch, I hope we have a plan in place to retain him.

7-5 non con and 9-9 con for overall of 16-14. I like our size and athleticism but losing your starting point guard of 4 years will take some adjustment. I also worry about our outside shooting.

Losing a 4-year PG is no harder than losing a 1-yr PG. I don't think we'll miss Jake. The next man up.

Would you like some beans for that pot??

Come come on you don't really believe that losing a four-year point guard is no harder than losing a one-year point guard. I know you don't believe that.

Yes I do. I don't believe there is much difference. As you know, I've watched ISU ball since 1967, and I've seen some great, great players graduate. And, you know what, they are ALWAYS replaced. Every year you have a different team. Players change, roles change and the team personality changes. And not knowing the end result is part of the excitement. That's why basketball is the greatest game ever invented. The outcome of games is not about individual players, but about the performance of the team, team defense and team offense.

I'm going to predict that we win 18 or 19 games. The beginning of the season will probably be full of up and downs, but I could see us rolling by the end of the season. The potential is there, it's just a matter of how hard they are willing to work to achieve their goal.

Ummm ok???? I never said you were right or wrong. I only stated my opinion so I really could care less on why you made the thread or if you remove the post. What are you predicting from? The players we return? What you saw against a D3 opponent? You have seen both of them play but has everybody else? I doubt many have seen them. All I said is Ill make a predicition after the IUPUI game. Dont know what you were getting at.
