I do not agree or like his actions, but he has a right to demonstrate his personal beliefs. We as a society have lost our ability to be tolerant of those that have a different view than our own. This is really what fighting for our constitution was about other wise we would have to conform to governments every demand, otherwise known as a police state.

Nothing wrong with demonstrating, everyone gets it, but doing that as an EMPLOYEE of an NFL Team, or doing it while on SCHOLARSHIP is NOT 1+1=2.

Yes, that's the residue that flows when one bud decides to "blossom" out of harmony with the rest of the bouquet. It's all about ME and MY BELIEFS...but not when you're on scholarship. Stiffing Golden was a pussy's way out. "Small timers"...now we've had two (2) FB incidents that don't reflect well on Indiana State University. Already on weak supportive ground, this is something we don't need. The A.D. & Sanford had better get their shit together and quick!

Not trying to defend him, because it does look like his head is bowed not facing the flag. But it looks like it could be an illusion, look at his feet, they are facing the flag.

Is a player on scholarship at a public institution considered a employee of that university? The National Labors Relations Board says yes so I guess the following article would apply. http://www.americanbar.org/content/...law/meetings/2009/ac2009/151.authcheckdam.pdf

The reason we don't live in a police state is because of our constitutional rights. Sorry for the typo in my previous post. But as much as I disagree with the young man he was entirely within his rights. If a student can not be made to stand for the pledge of allegiance then why
should they be made to stand during the national anthem?

I think we have to acknowledge that he has the right to do that. A lot of our youths are given everything and a lot of them may never appreciate it. They would soon realize what this country stands for if they were required to live in Iran or North Korea for a while.
