I know some who have contact with them read here, so if you could, please pass this along. It may make sense to avoid scheduling the Sycamore Blue/White game on the same day as Notre Dame, Indiana or Purdue's Spring Football games.

Reason being is many Sycamore fans that were born and raised in Indiana are also likely a fan of one of those three schools. For instance, I've been a Notre Dame fan my whole life and attend their Spring game every year, which was today. I would have loved to also go to the Sycamore Blue/White game as well, but couldn't because they were both today.

Just a thought.

By Notre Dame football fans, do you mean IU basketball fans?
No, but that isn't relevant to the topic in the first place.

That said, my point is a valid concern and should be considered. This program could use all of the support it can get, both in folks attending football functions and in money coming in. Since most students I associated with while on campus grew up fans of Purdue, IU or Notre Dame football well before stepping foot onto campus, they have a longer allegiance to those programs.

Did those schools have their spring games yesterday? I didn't notice (oh, I guess I did read about Notre Dame's goofy "duck, duck, goose" thing in the Chicago Tribune today, but I was happy to go down to Terre Haute yesterday to see My team.

Yes, Notre Dame had their Blue-Gold game yesterday.

Actually, it was entertaining and something I had never seen before. Spring games are about garnering excitement and entertaining your fans and they did a good job overall, even if the football was very vanilla.

isu used to try and schedule football games around iu, purdue, notre dame, etc....

but finally decided not to....i think it's something about priorities...if you are an isu fan, you'll go and see isu....you should support the school that you either attend or attended....at least that's my point of view....

sort of like isu students wearing iu, purdue, ball state, notre dame, louisville, illinois, cincinnati, etc., stuff on campus. you go to isu. your money is going to isu. maybe you should like support isu. again, just a thought.

just like since this is an isu fan wesbite.....

i believe we should like, you know, pump up isu events and not worry about notre dame, purdue, iu events. just an idea.

Closed-mindedness will not get this University anywhere. I would have thought you of all people would have agreed with this considering you've witnessed previous athletic director regimes and their narrow focus or limited scope.

You're not a Colts fan, right? I mean, you don't play for the Colts and you don't have any connection to them. I mean, only people that played or worked for the Colts organization should be Colts fans. Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? That is on par with what you're saying.

Every Saturday starting when I was 7 I'd watch the Notre Dame football game with my grandmother. That was 1985 when I started watching Irish football. I didn't step foot on campus at Indiana State to attend school until 1996. So just because I attended school there, I should drop the family tradition I had with my grandmother and no longer follow something I've followed for 20+ years?

Man, I'm really disappointed in some of you people. This level of thinking is exactly the reason why Terre Haute and the University has had struggles in the past -- the close-mindedness, the irrational thinking, it really is a recipe for disaster.

Why do you think very few grads stay in TH? It's ridiculous bro.

WOW! this coming from the guy who runs the fan message board and asks if we have mentioned the board to other alums. Did you spread the word about the board at Notre Dame yesterday?

Truthfully, your post doesn't even justify a response. But it's funny, I sure did. I actually saw a couple State grads I hadn't seen since I graduated.

hey...when it comes to isu....i guess that i am close minded....

i attended isu...i worked at isu....i would think that a website dedicated to isu sports and sports fans should fully support isu athletics....that's all....

if isu wants to be counted among the iu's, purdue, notre dame, ball state, evansville, etc. within the state, we should act like it and not cowtow. if we think we're less, why would anybody else want to support isu?????

call me old-fashioned. yes, that's me.

as a matter of fact, when i was at the golf outing on friday and at the spring game on saturday, i had more than a few people stop me and tell me how much they appreciated my point of view when they read this website.

i had a very nice talk with the guy who runs the bally and he loves the way that i go to bat for isu athletics in general and isu football in particular. i guess he's old-fashioned too. lol

there's a bunch of us old-fashioned coots out there. even some younger ones. lol

Are you claiming I don't full support ISU?

attendance saturday????

i didn't hear a full attendance figure from anyone. it was a nice crowd, which started showing up around 8 a.m. for the kids clinic and then it got bigger as the morning progressed.

someone joked that it was bigger than some of the home games last fall....lol.....was it huge? no, it wasn't....maybe a couple hundred....i can't say for sure....

i know there were over 100 people taking part in the golf fundraiser on friday, with most of those being former players....and a lot of those guys stayed around for saturday's scrimmage...plus some former players could only come for the blue-white game.....even had one former player, eric robinson and his son, fly up from miami at the last minute just to be a part of the weekend.....

Toot toot! Get off your high horse bro.

I graduated from ISU with my undergrad and then IU for a masters. I also know several folks that went to grad school at ND. One of my ISU friends is doing his MBA there now. This isn't about you, Boda or any one person. He is trying to explain that with better planning, you could see an increase in support and money to the program. He's right.

BTW I never went to any ISU football games as a student so I think I'm pretty unbiased here. I'm a BBall guy only.
