A die hard to the bitter end… his last post was just a few weeks ago. It’s actually quite the post to go out on. He summarized his love for the Sycamores in short order.

Drewster ...
How can you classify those of us who are upset as fair westher asking us to.put our money up. I believe most complaining have put their money up for several years. I bought FOUR season tickets for football, basketball for more than 30 years .... also for wbb had tickets since playing in the arena. Not as many years for baseball. ISU license plates since the first year available. Became severely handicapped so can't go now but even bought the florida tv pack to watch them.in the tournement this year
I would bet heavily that the majority of those who are upset the most are the most loyal of the sycamore fans who put money up for years via attendance plus donations. What data do you have to condemn those who are upset as fair weather fans. I believe the exact opposite is true.

My Dennis story:

My dream as a young adult after law school was to someday own racehorses. I caught the bug going to Shelbyville as a young guy and watching the owners hoot and hollar as their horse crossed the finish line--I had to be a part of it. In 2007 I was invited to an ISU Athletics fundraising gala and by a stroke of fortune was sat at a table with Ron Prettyman, Brett Burchette, and, as luck would have it, Dennis. Making cocktail hour small-talk he mentioned that he owned racehorses. I asked how I could get involved. He took me under his wing, taught me the business, introduced me to trainers and gave me more advice and time than I deserved. The first racehorse I ever owned was in partnership with Dennis--Dunkirk Native. She won in only her second race and I was hooked. Over the years my horses have won all over the midwest and mid-atlantic and given me unbeliveable memories, joy, and friends.

I owe it ALL to Dennis. RIP my friend.

I have two poignant memories of Dr. B. The first is from when I had him as a stats professor my freshman year - on day one, he went through the entire class and had each of us pronounce our names for him. He took notes, and then he took us through how to pronounce his name. He ended with "I won't mispronounce your name, so please don't mispronounce mine!" The L was silent (more like a W), and the rest was pronounced like Coach K's name...

The other was in Hulman Center when the opposing team was shooting free throws, and when it got quiet, Dr. B would yell, "Phone call for Mr. (insert player's name)!" His voice carried all through the arena. More than a few times, the player missed the free throw. It was a hoot!

Rest in peace, Dr. Bialaszewski. You will be missed.

I didn’t have any classes with him but he sounds like a huge loss for the community and our board.

Prayers for his family and hopefully more people can post some of the positive, fun interactions they had with him over the years.

He's also guilty as charged as being the guy that screamed, in a very loud, high-pitched voice "MISSSSSS ITTTTT" at Assembly Hall in both the close 1998 game and 1999 Indiana Classic win. And if memory serves IU did, uncharataristaclly, miss some free throws in those games.
