Rumors A Float!

Their are a few rumors floating around, do any of these hold substance?

1. Former Sycamore Cross Country and Track standout Randy Placencia has been rumored to be considering an attempted return this comming Cross Country season. However I have dug a little deeper into this rumor and would suggest that it holds little to no water. I highly highly doubt he will be running collegitaly ever again.

2. I have also heard rumblings that current Sycamore Jared Messman, Fort Wayne Snider High School will not run Cross Country or Track next season. From what I hear this is pretty much a done deal. Not sure why he has decided to do this? We will see if he changes his mind - wouldn't suprise me.

Just thought I would see if anyone had heard anything else about either of these rumors?

Did Messman score points in any conference meet?

I know Placencia was all MVC in CC, so if he could be serious about running that would help.

roommate update

Well since I am his roommate, I know for a fact that Messmann is attempting to run cross that i know of the last time I spoke with him. He is just tired of dealing with his Achilles problems and doesn't want to be bothered with it anymore is why he is frustrated and looking to move forward. He is at Cedar Point this summer, but don't think he's doing the usual Messmann ridiculous mileage like he has been known to do (also why I myself hit 91 last summer). But to calm the storm about Messmann he is going to try to be there this fall, we'll just see how this plays out. He does want to break the curse of both his and mine. His being the tattoo leaf on his leg (being the last of 3 that were the most recent of the leaf tattoo) and mine being that roommates that I've had on the team have either quit the team or left ISU completely. So lets hope we can knock out both curses.

Messmann is done

Talked to him today and he's officially retiring.

Yep, its just me and you know from the freshman class of 2005! Yea Messmann will be sorely missed. He was a very passionate teammate who loved to run, but in the end the incessant pain from the achilles/heel injury probably contributed to his desire to discontinue competitive running. Jared, thank you for 4 years of service to Sycamore distance running, and we'll see you around this year I'm sure.

Yes, Mess was a great runner and a great teammate. I loved doing workouts with him. He would always be cheering you on and helping you out verbally. I thank him for helping me out this year especially in the 5k/10k group. He was a leader and a great workout partner. He is a funny funny guy and made the lunch/ dinner tables interesting. He was a hard worker and a team player. He will be missed very much on our team, but I know we will still see a lot of the Mess around.

ok ok, i just got on here today and i decided i would comment. First, Keeney and schulz, thanks for the nice comments, but lets not think im dead lol. I will close the rumor and say that yes I am offically retired as an ISU athlete. I enjoyed my years of running, but it was time to hang em up and move on. The biggest factor in my decision was my Achilles. I was fed up running hurt everyday. After running all track season hurt and not seeing any results I decided I had had enough.

I will miss being an athlete and a member of the team, but that doesnt mean i wont be around, i will still be living on the ocho and still be just as rediculous as ever. I will still be there supporting you guys as much as possible, so dont think that you wont hear my voice yelling at you in the middle of a workout, or in the middle of a race.

I want to say though, you guys are going to be amazing this year and you will have so many awesome guys all trying to contribute that its going to be a dog fight just to get the chance to toe the line. lol.

Good shit man - it ws fun running with you for 4 years buddy! Good memories.. Those injurues are tough to overcome, I was lucky to avoid any serious injuries! But I am sure I will see you out and about!

JMess...don't feel bad you didn't have a choice between the leaf curse and Crum curse it was bound to happen...I say its more of the crum curse though..haha j/k. However, if you and Crum date you can break the most powerful curse!... Now to the real JMess rumor...I heard his calf's were to big to fit on the roller coasters at cedar point? See ya soon Messy!
