At one time Terre Haute also had one of the largest per capita retail expenditures in the country because it was a regional draw. A possible answer would be to place an outlet mall where the current mall is located. Most have been to Simon Outlet Malls(don't like Tanger). It would be not only a regional draw, but an attraction for motorists on I-70 & a destination from cities within 100 miles or so. If done correctly it could outdraw Edinburgh.

Not entirely pertinent to the conversation, but the Chinese business model is to steal concepts or tech, reverse engineer, then have it manufactured by workers in 12 hour shifts in factory compounds. The cities where I worked were close to unlivable due to pollution. The Chinese I worked with would beg me to bring baby formula and medicine from here because they didn't trust "Made in China." The internet is closed to anything not government sanctioned, so if you are interested in the free flow of information you'll be disappointed. BTW, anyone with money or power uses a Hong Kong VPN. I was more or less talking about how they consume in the major cities. From what I understand, they are damn near 100% cashless and pretty much everything can be purchased out of a vending machine. I'm interested in seeing that in action.
