Eleven

The Wade Level
With senior night just around the corner (already???) I got to thinking about something. We have one 4 year senior and two 2 year seniors on the basketball team. That's not a LOT of players...

But honestly, there is another individual (who is also a senior) that puts their heart and soul out for the fans every basketball game... This person is recognized by every fan in the building, and is responsible for being one of the FACES of sycamore basketball for televised games.

The problem is... not many people know who this person is...

I'd like to see the first REAL Sycamore Sam unmasked and recognized on Senior night. This person is the first person that has made the mascot be MORE than just someone dressed up in a furry suit. He's given the mascot a personality...

What do you guys think?

I agree with this for sure, he has set the standard of what a mascot at Indiana State should look like. I totally agree - take the mask off or hell keep it on and let him walk out... He deserves to be recognized, he is always into the game!

I know someone is reading this and I hope they give it serious consideration!!!

Sam, just stop throwing shirts to the students - give them to the kids in the stands! lol

It's not a person on the basketball team, so it's weird to see this attached...but...

He's going to be tough to replace. Hopefully we find someone who represents that furry little asexual critter as well as Kaleb has!!!

I couldn't agree more. Sam (aka Kaleb?) has done a truly remarkable job as our mascot for the past couple of years. He should set the standard for who gets that suit in the future!!!

Come on athletic department, make sure our Sycamore Sam gets his due recognition at Senior Night!!!

Agreed and don't they recognize senior cheerleaders/sparkettes/trainers already? Shouldn't be hard to include Sam in that at all.

He throws us one shirt, lol. If a front row member gets it, it usually goes to a kid in the crowd anyway. I agree that Kaleb should get recognized as well.

You obviously have not seen my other post to this point today, http://www.sycamorerunner.com/showthread.php?t=5490&page=7 I know that one of you all throws back the shirt to a kid in the stands, how long you think I have been going to games? You think I don't pay attention to things like this?

I see what he does and the students get the majority of the shirts and you got kids standing in the stairways waving their hands for shirts - you all are so focused on getting a shirt you wouldn't notice that... I already said kudos to anyone in the student section who tries to throw the shirts to kids, I think that's great because you all shouldn't get them in the first place.

I don't mind them getting shirts if we have a full section of students it would be one thing but we don't. I think you need to understand that the students getting the shirts are the same students over and over. I would MUCH rather a 6 to 14 year old kid in the stands get a shirt than a college student - that's why!

They throw out a limited supply of shirts, whenever I get a shirt I give it to a kid around me and they are soooo darn happy and so are their parents! I was once a kid and wanted to catch every t-shirt possible, that day is over now I am grown up (debatable) and I don't need anymore t-shirts.

The point is you might as well target the young and up and coming kids, FSA: Future Sycamores of America as opposed to the CSA: Current Sycamores of America who don't give two :censored: what happens at the games... Look I got text mesgs. from Sycamore fans who cared last night and wanted to talk about the game. I got a call from my dad at 8:00 a.m. who still wanted to talk about the game - Sycamore fans are out their they really are and I think I am a Sycamore fan and I have been to enough games to know that the students don't need any more tees thrown to them! Cool!

They throw 3 shirts per corner...
12 shirts...
Only 1 corner has the student section.
He usually throws one to the students below, and one into the upper area of the student section... and one into the row right next to me where there are usually 4 or 5 kids lined up in the aisle.

I always wondered if there were other fathers/sons who called each other multiple times after going to games together just to talk about it. Wow, Dad, we're not alone!!!

OK, you win - I have only been going to games since I as "eleven" and I just made it up... They only throw one :censored: "T" to the students section... Meanwhile several 100 children go home with their hearts broken... My heart breaks for them.

Seriously 11, I don't want to talk about it anymore. You think that the students only get one shirt and that is the way it has been going then fine I will go with that. Hopefully that is the case!

Down in the bottom we get one..He may throw one to the top section, I don't know. Would you rather us just sit and not try to get one? We just think its more fun to basically dogpile whoever gets it and then throw it to a kid. Not sure why we shouldn't get them in the first place considering their XL, but I'd be fine with him not throwing any.

Can't base it on how long you've been going, they've changed it so much it's ridiculous. Remember when the threw the blimpies using the giant slingshot? Speaking of which, they should start using that slingshot again. I also miss the little basketballs.

My father....graduate of Miami (Ohio)...calls me after every ISU game comes to at least 10 a year...including making his very own Aaron Carter jersey...As many of you know Carter dunked on me in a very dissapointing/embarassing manner when in High school...Sorry not to change the subject but he is going into brain surgery thursday so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers...

To be quite frank Superfan I am just glad I found something that I could get you to post about... I have been looking for ways to get you more involved in the conversation and it would seem that I know how to push your buttons now! Sweet!

I don't care what you all do, you guys come to the games and have a good ole time and you all attempt to be creative. I am all for it - I am off my high horse now.

You all know how I feel about it and what I have to say about the whole deal. I digress now.

Anyone remember when Ben Anderson made his SR. speech at SR. night and encouraged everyone to try the fresh baked bread at Subway, he pretty much endorsed subway on the spot. Those are the days when you could get away with that type of thing.... lol Ben Anderson was classic, same guy that purposed to his gf at the game! He is a good man, always welcomed me and my best friend to his apt.
