Bill Swerski's superfans pick Da Sycamores...in an overwhelming victory.....293-3....but Ronnie Fouch will be held to under 700 yards passing

Should be - two very equal teams ability-wise, imo. I like ISU at home in a squeaker, but I worry about a let down after the big FCS win. So I'm picking YSU to win a squeaker and finish 3rd in the MVC.
This was over on the CS thread and I think is a legit concern. How will we start out after the big win over Western Kentucky? If our defense comes out and plays like it did against Butler, this game could be over by halftime. We need the energetic, opportunistic defense that showed up in Bowling Green.

On a side note, I get a kick out of posts where people down play turnovers, including Hess and his four picks last year. Mental mistakes are part of the game and often determines who wins or loses a game. Additionally, defenses can force those turnovers so to think if you just "eliminate the turnovers and it is a different game" comments are pretty simplistic thinking.

I would hope that our guys will never, ever have a "hangover" from a big win. As much as they've been through, you'd think that once they get a taste of a big win, they'd do anything to keep that feeling going. I like the attitude displayed by Shakir "Supersonic" Bell as told by Rick Semmler when he said that they're not just trying to win the MVC, they're trying to win a national championship. That's the right attitude, and I hope (and believe) that the coaches have the teams' heads in the right place - that they can't win by just showing up. I look for an inspired defense on Saturday, and a typically overwhelming offense.

I have a mantra when I help qbs or evaluate qbs. A guy can develop some physical things like footwork release and what not but you can't help a guy grow between the ears...rarely does a qb who gives the ball up alot ever become a guy who rarely gives the ball up

Only thing I would disagree with is that "if our defense comes out and plays like it did against Butler, this game could be over by halftime..." I blame 1st half game plan against Butler more on coaches than kids that game. That said, the game (Butler) showed we're able to make adjustments proving coaches can coach and kids can adjust. This team will never be out of a conference game! GO SYC's

My thought there is that, unlike Butler, I'd say a conference foe would be unlikely to let us get back in the game and the adjustments made may come too late. Does that make sense?

Personally, I hope they come out and step on the Penguin's neck early. In looking at the YSU stats, they're a pretty damn balanced team. Granted the 77 point waxing of Valpo has skewed their stats, but they played Michigan State hard and obviously beat conference foe Illinois State easily even though the final score showed otherwise.

I hope the players are aware of the lack of respect they are getting this week. If they don't, I hope someone lets them know.

Sounds like the writer isn't aware that we beat them in Youngstown last year. Did I miss it, or am I right that it wasn't mentioned. How do you note that we've never beaten them in Terre Haute, but ignore the fact that we just beat them at their place last year???

I have noticed alot of the message boards keep bringing that up...I think it's stupid considering we beat them just last year.

Anyone notice that the writer can't even spell Terre Haute correctly either? Haha. I did notice that the recaps at the bottom of the article did mention our win there last year though.

... and the only "TV" for this game is the MVC Live webcast, correct?

No plans to nudge it over to FSN Midwest? or FSN Ohio??

I don't mean this in any disrespect but a friend of mine who is a media seller for FSMidwest, told me that they lose money on every MVFC football game but the MSU/ISU game. I think it has to do with the selling of the advertising packages and the size of the fan base. I am just relaying what I have been told, I think this is why we have seen less games put on FSN lately. I do think FSNOhio could make some money on this matchup of 2 regional schools on the rise. FSN Midwest will be playing Cards baseball in the middle of the playoff push, doubtful that gets preempted.
