IF Shakir was allowed to play the whole game and get 25-30 touches....I'm sure we'd all agree he'd prob run for 500 yards.
He'd need them. Right now he sits at 2,511 total rushing yards and the school career record is 4,335 yards by Vincent Allen putting him 1,824 yards behind him. While it looks like he should catch him, I want to make sure there is no doubt and Quincy is a school, like it or not, that he can have monster numbers. This is their "money game" so we should get our money's worth.

Shakir's Stats

2010: 95 carries for 649 yards and 2 TDs
2011: 230 carries for 1670 yards and 14 TDs
2012: 24 carries for 192 yards and 1 TD

Important to come out and dominate in this game. Can't have a letdown after a tough IU game.

Our most important thing to guard against in the next week may very well be letdown. As has been often stated, the IU game was a chance for some of our guys to show the world they could have played at the 1A level. They had a chip on their shoulders. Hopefully that chip will be even bigger this week, and they dominate Quincy.

Quick question from observation stand point, will a win against Quincy count for getting into the playoffs? The Bears are playing 2 FBS schools vomit so likely a wash on that front just wondered what the selection committee did with D2 games.

wins vs. D-II schools do not count towards wins for getting into the playoffs (I am pretty sure anyway)

DII wins will not count. I don't like scheduling Quincy, but I don't think they had much of a chance--with the late bye week, it's tough to find a non-conference opponent. This could work hugely against UNI this year. With Wisconsin, then Iowa followed by a DII game, they may get nothing from these (although I hope they beat the Hawkeyes). We can't have more than 2 conference losses to see the playoffs. Hopeful!!

And money. This is why I've been vocal about bashing some of our fans. They'll come out to IU but not to games in Terre Haute. If they only realized what their support could do -- for example, paying a fellow FCS team to come in instead of having to pay Quincy. I hope everyone that supports the football team purchases season tickets even if you cannot go to the games or makes a donation to the football program. Those funds help with retaining coaches, recruiting, buying games, improving facilities, so on and so forth.

I think a positive for this game is we will be able to see some of the backups in action, and they will be able to get quality reps. I was just wondering what happened to Chessborough. He has had some really good games for us, his game is similar to Shakir's, but ever since he had some fumble issues ( I think at N Iowa) he hasn't seen the field. I always thought he was a quality backup, and returner, but it seems like he doesn't see the field at all anymore. I think this game will also be a good chance to develop some of the young wide outs. As we saw against IU, we need to develop a few more go to guys. I saw Haywood play in High School, and he had serious D1 speed. We beat out SIU for him, and I was just wondering from someone who has insight with the team, if him or any of the other wr were going to be potential play makers this year for the Trees?

I believe Cheeseborough is injured, but not sure when he will return. What about Luke Harris? A couple of years ago I kept hearing he was going to be stud, and then he got some reps early last year but I haven't really seen anything else from him since then. I know he's had a lot of injury issues as well though.

He injured his knee again this offseason. He's out for the year.

I made the same comment Saturday night. Of course the same is true of me to a degree, I don't make the four and a half hour drive for each home game, but for some fans in TH, they'll make the hour drive to Bloomington because it's IU, but they won't go to another game the rest of the year. Those are the fans who need to get it together and show up for every game. They don't know what they're missing.

Every time I explain this to people they are shocked that it works this way. That shocks me. I think they just expect the University to shell out cash.
