Can we start a poll on this?.........

You see similar issues in pro sports often. A free agent signs with a new team or a player gets traded to a team and wants HIS number. Often times, these pro athletes "buy" their jersey number from a player currently on their new team's roster.

That being said, Aaron Carter currently wears #32 which is the number that Jake Kelly wore at Iowa. If Jake wants #32, should Aaron Carter give it up? I don't even know if Jake will care, but I think this is an interesting topic.

I vote NO WAY! I think it would say something about Jake Kelly if he comes in and does not expect HIS number. IMHO, a jersey number means absolutely nothing..... Heck, I think I wore a different number every year in high-school.

What do you guys think?

If Jake wants the number 32, should Aaron Carter give it up to him?

Yes
No

jump shots at 12 paces...lol...a duel, as it were....lol.....or jsut play a mean game of horse....lol......

If he actually wants it, I see no problem in Aaron giving it to him as long as he is ok with it. If Aaron wants to keep it, he should be able to. He was here first, after all.

I mean it's a number... At the end of the day who really cares. My guess is Jake Kelly could really care less. But some people are serious about keeping the same number! It's war if you steal numbers. Consdering Kelly came in after AC he can't be to upset either way really.

However I voted yes because Kelly is POY capable... lol and if you are going to take us to the promise land then for gosh sakes give him whatever number he wants. I find it hard to take this question to serious. I mean if AC is going to only play about 10mins a game like I predict who cares what number he is wearing. Not the stats guy.

A silly ridiculous poll. This situation, if it exists, should be handled between the guys themselves not by a poll on a message board.

As opposed to all the other polls on this board, which the coaches and players will probably use as guidance when making important decisions.............

Why do you think I posted the poll about what positions we should recruit for next year???

I just hope that Jake Kelly lives up to all the hype or there will be some really disappointed ISU fans who have already labeled him as the second coming to Larry Bird. And I also hope that our "local" recruits coming in do not disappoint....as I have aprehensions about most of them and the big time division I level. Let's just pray it all works out for the best and the Sycamores being on top again!

I for one think the kid could go to the NBA, but I never suggested anything about Larry Bird. I wouldn't mention Jake and Larry's name in the same breath. Oh wait I just did! But seriously that is not even fair. I am going to let the kid make a name for hisself.

Nor am I going to worry about any of these kids comming in dissapointing... It's part of college athletics, some kids make a name for themselves some fade off into the world of facebook and myspace. I am sure all of these kids have one common goal. WINNING!

I don't think anyone is suggesting he's the second coming of Bird. Most fans here seem pretty realistic about how much to expect from the team next year. I think it's fair to say we hope to be in the top half of the MVC, but I think some of us were already optimistic about that after the team's improvement down the stretch.

I'm abstaining from the poll. The answer probably depends on what number they offer Jake.

Can he be Bird-like with two years of eligibility? I can't say, but I do think he will make a tremendous contribution to the team.
