Sycamore Proud

The Nicks Level
In honor of Father's Day, I thought I'd ask the folks here to list three things they've learned from their dad that have come in handy in life. These can be positive things, or negative things that you learned NOT to do.

Build your character--it's your most important possession.
My love for woodworking--respect all tools and machines, but fear
none of them.
There is no I in TEAM--somewhat fitting for this place.

1. Be responsible for your own actions. 2. Be passionate and sincere about what you do. 3. Believe in God.

1. My dad put a girl over his college education, so I learned not to do that.
2. Study hard before hitting the field
3. Never be late

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.
This quote pretty much identifies the lessons my dad taught me as a kid

1. Do something nice for someone every day, and if they find out it doesn't count.
2. Make a difference.

1. Life is to short to be an asshole . Treat everyone with the respect you would want to receive.
2. If you’re 15 minutes early your late
3. Be a leader not a follower , set examples for others don’t let others define you

Nope, just some great advice that too many men should have paid heed to...:meditate:

Is that advice that needs to even be given though? I would sure hope not! Granted we live in a world of infidelity. I think the word would be "loyal" and my dad taught me loyalty. Son, your going to be a Sycamore. Daughter, your going to be a Sycamore. Ok Dad! lol It didn't really go down like that, but really no doubt we are a Sycamore family!

Can't be condensed to 3 things. What I learned from my dad: everything. Fortunately for me, I never hit an age when I thought my dad's advice was stupid. He was always spot on. If I had been dumb enough to ignore him when I was young and knew everything, I would have missed a lot of very good advice. My brother said it best at my dad's funeral: My guiding star has burned out, but it shone brightly enough and for long enough that I am confident that I can still find my way from here.
