How much you think Mallory had to pay the refs to overturn that fumble and touchdown for SIU?

probably why those officials will never ref a Division 1 game

Wow, Southern should drop their football program
No. Clearly after coming close but not winning they should do the opposite. Dump every dollar available into the program.

They would have won if those boosters would have been willing to donate $500k more

You mad bro?
Just sayin’. Pretty shitty call

Southern Illinois was kind enough to suck at just the right time to give Indiana State the game and Indiana State was able to get around their awfulness at just the right time to get a win

Haven’t been on the edge of my seat like that since my nephews middle school game that was 8-6 in the 4th quarter.

Great win! Go Blue!

Alright, since you want to open that door…we just almost lost to a program who started a defensive graduate assistant coach at QB. Who had never completed a pass. I don’t think this is the burn you think it is.

Glad the Trees represented well on Hoco, but perspective is still important 💀

Believe it or not, two things can exist at the same time!

1. Can be glad we picked up a Homecoming win in front of what looked like an energized crowd and

2. Call it what it is. SIU isn’t very good and Mallory didn’t call a great game - again. They can exist together. It’s crazy!!

Putting together wins in Homecoming is important when alums are back and there’s the most eyes on the program for the year. It was a good win, but there are still glaring issues lol

Homecoming game. Attendance….. drumroll please….. 4266!!! Per Gosycamore.com. A few more and they could fill the lower bowl of Hulman Center!

I know this shows how out of the loop I am, but where are all the tents now?

I turned it on at one point and behind the non locker room side of the field it was all cars out there.

Are they still setting fire to anyone’s tents or belongings at kickoff if people don’t go into the game?

I don’t really know the circumstances because I don’t follow 1AA football but all-and-all happy to see us get a win on homecoming! Happy for Mallory who’s a really weird scapegoat for some of our fan base who don’t want to acknowledge very obvious barriers to success no matter who is coaching football at this institution.

The homecoming parade was fun for my two little kids but it’s such a depressing parade - the floats suck and the organization is very meh. On one hand you have a community that still shows up for it which is great but InState falls short in the show that they can put on.

Didn’t make it into the game myself - had the family. Just a beautiful day to tailgate and enjoy college football.

*Worth noting and really not a knock on InState football just a knock on InState fans/alumni collectively the amount of tailgates with a TV and Indiana Washington on is beyond depressing to me. I just wasn’t raised like that. These people tailgating at a (insert school) game and watching another in state school is super bizarre behavior to me. Care that much? Awesome. Stay home - fire up the grill and pop and coldie. It’s all the same. Better yet if you care that much you are an hour away just go experience it first hand you know? Don’t be a bitch.

The organizations tailgate tents were set up on the northwest side of the stadium. There was quite the crowd there when we left which I can’t imagine was fun to shut down. There was not any policing to go into the game from what I saw.

Maybe I’m just getting older and not involved with the college crowd, but didn’t seem like near as many students arriving post Walk.

Always nice to win and especially on Homecoming. SIU is a depleted squad and it took several turnovers in a row for us to squeak it out. We really need to spread it out and let Owens roll out, look for the open guy or run more.

Crazy when you look at the losses to HC, EIU, & YSU…we really aren’t that far from 6-2…at least 5-3 …won’t get any easier from here though.

As always, enjoy a good tailgate and you can’t beat the grassy area vs. some stadiums surrounded by blacktop or gravel lots.

Very close to 6-2. Creating turnovers is defensive good play. The guys didn’t quit and kept fighting. Got stops when they counted.

Well said.

I'm glad ISU isn't the worst of the worst, and we've pulled out most of the home games we should have won. I'm glad the guys get to celebrate a big homecoming victory against a program with a much richer football history than ours.

That said, we've played the easiest schedule through the first 8 games that I can remember, at least in ISU history. The opponents we've beaten in football aren't exactly comparable to those the basketball team defeated in the NIT. I mean the basketball vs football crap is just stupid but since someone gloating in this thread went there earlier this year, I think it's worth noting.

Our wins:

- 1-7 That's Murray State's record. Their one win was against Mississippi Valley State. Who are they? Some team that is winless on the season.

- 2-6 Southern Illinois has now lost 5 in a row.

- 5-2 Dayton is doing well in the Pioneer League.

Our losses (four missed opportunities):

- 1-6 We are Purdue's one win on the year. They beat us 49-0. They have been blown out in every other game except their shootout loss to Illinois.

- 1-7 We are Eastern's one win on the year. They've been blown out in every other game except a close home loss to Lindenwood.

- 2-6 We are one of two of Youngstown State's wins. They also beat Valpo.

- 3-4 And Houston Christian beat two other teams. They also beat McNeese State and LCU (no idea who they are).

LCU was Houston Christian's "pay smaller school for a win" game, Louisiana Christian... NAIA school

Congrats to the team and staff on a Homecoming win!
