Smoke Free

I'm not sure if anyone has heard, but ISU's campus is now smoke free. I believe that the impact of this decision will surely improve Sycamore distance running dramatically. Think about how much better we will run now that smoke will not be blown in our face on the way into Root Hall. I have a question though: if you see someone smoking on campus, will you say anything to them or not?

Sweet! It's about time. It was really annoying to have to have smoke blown in my face while walking to class everyday. If it happens now that the ban has happened, they would be doing something they are not supposed to do on campus, therefore disobeying campus rules. This means we can react in ways unacceptable by campus standards( ex. punch to face or jump them), it's only fair as far as I see. :wordyo:

Wow -- I thought State had been 'smoke free' for about 15 years or so; guess I'm just thinking of the buildings vice the campus.

But, WOW! Couple this ban and the closure of the papermill; State may have a winning formula for increased enrollment!

Along those same lines.....I have heard many people still complain that Terre Haute smells. However, ever since the closing on the paper mill factory, I have noticed a dramatic decline/absence of the smell. For those of you living in Terre Haute: do you still notice the smell now supposedly due to the sewage facility, or is it gone for you as well?

It has to be better...

The paper mill was the leading cause (of course the creosote plant didn't help);

for the sewage plant to be the leading cause, it would have to be one BIG plant; the aroma from a 'waste water facility' tends to be localized, not city-wide, regardless of the winds.

Yeah I agree Terre Haute does not smell hardly as bad as it used to smell. It used to be pretty bad.

If I was still going to school and saw someone smoking I def. would say something - I would be real suttle about it like, "you know this is a non smoking camus right?" or cough/gag when I walk by them. But Im not on campus much anymore so it does not really effect me to much!

Not really ever - if you smell anything sometimes the waste water treatment plant smells like butt but it's got a lot of differnet shit going on their and it's pretty localized shit...
