Ok need some help stealing from the ISU FB page. Todd Hein just posted pics of the shirts for the starters plus JABO. Its the Robbie shirt from this weekend plus the others. He said they go on sale as soon as the web store is up and running hopefully by the end of next week and portion of the shirts go to the NIL collective! They are cool, my dam computer won't let me repost it, can somebody help me thieve it?

I would love to see with the starters, the money be put aside, and WHEN they commit to come back next year they get what their shirt made for NIL. Jabo being a senior, his comes at graduation...... Show these guys the money to go with the love. just a thought.........

I love it when my employer withholds my paychecks until i sign the contract for next year.....

That idea is going to piss off a lot of players

My point is give them the love without these six it doesn't happen and we are going to have to pony up to keep em'. If you are worried about pissing players off, how do you think they would feel this money generated and the potential exists if it goes into the collective it could go to football or other sports>>>>

I see what you are saying, but the only reason these will sale is because of the players' image. You are using their NIL to make a sale, and therefore you have to pay them. That would get us in a deep hole if we tried withholding it until they committed to come back, nor would I want us to do that.

I would imagine the bigger issue is lack of playing time for guy/s who are looking to leave, rather than an a booster who created shirts to raise money for rhe "collective". The money raised is going into the general collective to be dispersed as coach see's fit. However, I could be dead wrong and that is why players are pissed and want to transfer

@BlueBleeder sorry about that. This is probably a better place to be discussing this.

I would say your bigger issue that you have listed is obviously correct. But I wouldn’t discount guys on the end of that bench that are young and impressionable saying/thinking I thought this was a team concept we were buying into - everything going on externally looks awfully individual centric and I’m not included. You disagree? Fine. But why do you think they came out days later with a random ass Shetler shirt? I can tell you why.

We had some people commenting on here about something changing internally - guys looked less excited about the overall success of an individual. I’m just saying if you’re looking for division you might have some pretty obvious things to point toward.

In addition to that - when you’ve got an official merchandise vendor like Pacesetter sports who has supported Indiana State for over 30 years and they sell merch at games and they have the best store in town for ISU merch and they agree to give $7 (not the current $5) toward the NIL and the organizers decide to not use them and use a non-approved (at the time) vendor to create and sell those shirts… You know how many more they could have sold if he was selling those in stores and at games? Rhetorical. I don’t know much but I know Brent Compton was at the ISU game Saturday night because he’s a lifer - I doubt the other vendor was at the game or at even a handful of our games ever.

Again, love the intent! The planning, execution and delivery not great.

You are probably right. I am looking at it through 40 year old eyes, not 18-21. I am sure that did create some division, hell maybe thats where all this is coming from. I am assuming Todd Hein has some connnection with Embroidery Express and thats why he went with them. As far as Pacesetter, you mentioning the $7 to NIL is the first time I have heard that....and thats an issue. I do support them, bought several shirts there earlier this year and we always purchase our son's running gear there. Had I known that, i would have bought more stuff there instead of through EE. I am trying to give as much as I can to help this team stay relevant in this dumb NIL era.

Correct, having been an athlete at that level many moon's ago now I can tell you this would be looked at some kind of way... And sure you could be like, if you don't like it then get in the gym and get better and you can have a t-shirt with your face on it. Okay okay! These kids are all D1 basketball players for a reason - they got here so let's not act like because they are not playing on this team they couldn't be playing on a lot of other teams. And it's probably not JUST the t-shirts - it's just something else that adds up and starts to creep in that creates division.

Pacesetters printed the baby blue jerseys earlier in the year for him at cost... He made the decision and that's fine. He's earned the right to make those kind of decisions - it just wasn't the right decision. And yeah - it was his personal connection and he did what he wanted to do. So be it.

Our NIL wouldn't be where it is today without Todd - he was an early adopter and for that reason we are in a decent position to be able to retain some of this talent. Again, wouldn't have happened without Todd and a few others early efforts.

I bought a couple of ISU Baseball t-shirts from the Pacesetter tent in front of Memorial Stadium this past fall (Regional Champs and MVCT Champs). I thought their prices were more than fair too. If the basketball team wins (or shares) the regular season title and / or wins the tournament in St Louis I'll more than likely end up buying championship t-shirts through them again. At some point I need to go down there and see what they actually have in their store. I haven't been in there in probably 10 years.

Make sure you go to the embroidery store - not the actual store. Just across the parking lot to the west. They have all the ISU gear in that building. In fact, they don't sell IU, Purdue, Notre Dame or gear of anyone else - they only rock with the Sycamores.

Thanks for the tip. I see it on Google Street View now. I didn't even know they had a second building back there.

Love Pacesetters, frequent shopper. I loved the idea of these NIL player shirts, but at the time wondered if this might create some division. Knew it had the potential. For this reason, I gave a small amount to the NIL fund, rather than the shirts. Hope the players realize that NIL is in its infancy, and the program and boosters are still figuring it out. Certainly no offense was meant, if some of the players felt left out.

I think right now NIL is in it's "Goldrush" stage. The current model isn't sustainable and boosters/donators to NIL are going to start questioning why they are giving some kids $. Take Payton Sparks that used to be at Ball State but is now with IU. He reportedly got $200,000 in NIL to go ride the bench for the hoosiers. If you donated any of that money you have to be questioning some things. Between football and basketball there are probably 1,000s of examples of kids getting money and doing NOTHING for that program. The system was designed for players like Zach Edey, Caitlin Clark, etc. to cash in for their performance on the court and their polarization with the crowd. I 100% think they deserve event penny that comes their way.

In closing, I think people are still trying to figure it out and how to navigate these waters. Having a healthy NIL fund will be key going forward but I think the days of "outbidding" for potential recruits will go to the way-side eventually to some extent
