Does it seem like the Sycamores are making a transition to a more offensively open or is it just me? I like seeing the team actually go down the field with the ball.

Seeing as how the past few years we couldn't block me, I would say any offense we generate is going to look more open than before!!! I can't wait to see us actually throw a real pass and score a touchdown on a better play than the QB running for his life!!!!

I'm really looking forward to the 2010 version of the Sycamores. Should be a much more enjoyable season!!!

what do you think about the new changes around the offensive line? with the stretch oriented style I think we will see more success...

The offensive line is bigger and more experienced, and has several big incoming Freshmen that should redshirt, which will continue to set the team up for the future. Fouch goes through his reads well, is mobile, and actually throws the ball away rather than taking sacks. I think Kent will have a much better year, and the new receivers can actually go and get the ball. I'm not sure how many deep chances they'll take, but you will definitely see more posession-type throws, and way more yards passing per game than the 92 this past season. The passing game will also help open things up for Darrius Gates--I look for him to have a big season.

NSF, just to prove I truly believe in "burying the hatchet", what is your take on our quarterback situation? I understand the UW QB may be pretty good but I haven't been there to see him and I know you have. We have had our hopes up two years in a row with QB's with "potential" and have been somewhat let down (probably an understatement). I am curious as to your take on the guys vying for the starting position.

Bally, Thanks. I just put a long-winded response on the other thread about QBs--the short answer here--Fouch and Glass are a BIG improvement!

fouch, glass and johnson are three good quarterbacks....

the arrival of fouch and glass is making johnson better.....you could see it in the practices.....

fouch has a good live arm....he is comfortable in this offense...because from what i have been told...its pretty much the same offense that he ran in high school and at the university of washington.....he has a comfort level with what is going on out there....

he is still adjusting to his new receivers...hopefully working out over the summer with them before the start of pre-season practice will allow him, glass and johnson more time to become acclimated with their receivers....

i have been told that he is so attuned to the offense that you'll be seeing him adjusting players as to where they should line up....audiblizing at the line of scrimmage.....changing things up at the line of scrimmage.....

the offense has been limited for the last two seasons because of the uncertainty at quarterback....

while trent and troy walters teamed to call the offense the last two years.....it appears as if troy is going to be calling the majority of the plays.....trent, of course, will have the option of making any last minute changes....but the play calling, for the most part, will be done by troy....its his offense.....

i think with gates, luke harris, brock lough and shaqir bell, indiana state will have a good set of running backs....the receiving corps is much better...they need more consistency from the tight ends in terms of overall play....blocking and catching the football....the offensive line appears to be getting better...it not where they want it to be....but its better....and that's a big plus....

Thanks, TJ. I am looking forward to sharing a pitcher with you at some time. Sycamore football is looking up!
