With rapidly declining enrollment, a moribund program with no road map to get better, and no obvious commitment from the university, spending money on a stadium would be a colossal waste of money. Extrapolate that as you will...

We know that we are now going to get a casino in Terre Haute and it is also a campaign to be chosen. Why not put out the information that the chosen casino would donate 20 million dollars for naming rights if a new stadium is built. That would really help their choice of being chosen as the new casino. It would also give ISU a big boost and being able to build it. Think each of these casinos are trying to find a way to be chosen as the winner. Worth a try!

I could be wrong, but I don't think the NCAA would allow a casino company to purchase naming rights to an NCAA affiliated stadium. Great idea, though.

If Greg Gibson really wants his casino chosen, donate $20 million and Call it Greg Gibson stadium. That way it wouldn’t have a casino name. If it was $20 million for 20 years, that’s really only 1 million a year. Probably pocket change to him.

great idea but the cheapest option(s) for a new stadium were in the $35M+ department... if ISU needs that $20M to build it, it'll take 20 years TO build it

sounds like a timeline for a small cathedral in the Middle Ages!

a huge donation like he is talking is very unlikely but I suspect if they got one coming up with the rest might be more realistic.

I also think they NCAA probably has some sort of ban on casino connections to schools but I dont have any real knowledge.

I feel like how the HC renovation went down might prevent him from wanting to do anything anyway. but i have even less knowledge about that.

I think the NCAA treats alcohol and gambling in the same vein... it comes into play when a school HOSTS an NCAA Tourney event, the signage is covered, the name is "altered" to something like... here at the ISU Cross-Country Course..." versus... ISU is hosting the 2023 Men's Cross Country Nationals at the Hard Rock Casino and Den of Iniquity 10K course...

I believe it is gambling, adult entertainment, alcohol, tobacco, and illegal or prescribed substances.

I will be interested to see if an athlete challenges this from the NIL perspective. If they do and win, I'd be curious if the NCAA then removes it for schools.

So you don't think the locals in Terre Haute slow walked their part of the proposed HC/ Convention Center in order for Gibson to get the thing on his property. They sure got the deal done in a hurry after ISU went alone.
