Metro Roundup: ISU men's XC moves up in region ranks

The Tribune-Star
TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State’s men’s cross country team moved up two spots in this week’s Great Lakes Region rankings which were announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Based on their showing at the Notre Dame Invitational last Friday, the Sycamores moved to eighth in the rankings just behind Dayton, which edged ISU by three points in the Blue Division race in South Bend.

Wisconsin maintained the top spot with Butler second and Indiana third. They were followed by Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State.

Behind the Sycamores are Notre Dame, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Purdue and Marquette.

Despite a sixth-place finish in the Gold Division at the Notre Dame Invitational, the Indiana State women did not break into the top 15 of the Great Lakes Region. Michigan holds down the top spot with Michigan State second and Notre Dame third.

The Sycamores have two weeks off in preparation for the Pre-Nationals on the LaVern Gibson Championship course Oct. 17. The ISU women will compete in the Bradley Classic on Oct. 16.

I think ISU can beat Dayton at pre-nationals and move up a spot or 2.

this is incorrect also, ISU and Dayton tied and had they gone to the 6th man, ISU wins.

Good find the Sycamores are going to move up at Pre Nats this year I am telling you... This team is deeper than last years team - I think they can beat Souther ill. at MVC even though they ran so well this past weekend, we are a deeper team than them
