WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Relegation and promotion would clarify competition arguments at the cost of increased travel cost.

Baseball might be the ideal spot to test the concept with its mostly weekend conference series format.

Keep seeing all of these SEC teams wanting into our regional because we'd be the easy out. Really hope we grant someone their wish and wipe them.
I remember last year when Iowa, North Carolina, and Wright State were saying the same thing

Can't be that easy of an out if only one of them wants to schedule us for a Tuesday home game each year.

Considering we are struggling to put a really bad Valpo team away right now I can’t blame them.
Unfortunately I agree. I'm not sure our pitching is deep enough this season to have another deep run like we did last season. Losing all three starting weekend pitchers from a year ago is just tough. The Vandy and Illinois games in particular weren't very pretty and some of these MVC games have even been head scratchers like today.

Does anybody have any opinions on our hosting chances if we don't win the automatic bid in Evansville? I think we get to host for sure if we win it, but if we don't then I think we'll likely get dropped to the #2 line.

While i agree our starting pitching needs to step up a notch if we want to replicate last year. But let's not act like we are a bad team. I mean the fact that we lost 3 phenomenal starters from last years squad are in position to host against is nothing short of amazing.

But it's baseball you are going to get some wonky scores and head scratching games throughout the season. I mean last year we beat Illinois State and their 202 RPI 2-0, 4-3 (10 innings), 4-3. Yeah we swept them, but we barely got by, and we turned out just fine last year.

As far as hosting. If we win the conference tournament we are 100% hosting, not even a question. I think if win tomorrow against Valpo that will give us some grace. If we don't win the conference tournament it will just depend who we beat or lost too and what other teams do. But overall to be having this conversation 2 years in a row for a northern mid-major is truly incredible.

I think as long as we get to the finals of the MVC tourney we host.

Short of that it will depend on what happens in other leagues. Winning our regional last year (combined with the atmosphere) probably will help.

Agree with you 100% that you get crazy scores during a long season. My point was merely that giving up 9 runs to a pretty bad Valpo team isn’t going to strike fear into a lot of teams so I can see why SEC teams would be fine coming to play in Terre Haute. I think they would be wrong to feel that way but I understand why they do.

Feel like our bullpen is our strength this year so hopefully our starters can eat some innings and we dont have to rely on them too much in Evansville.

Cutts didn’t even get an out today. Not good with the post season right around the corner.

Thank you for bringing sanity to this conversation.

My preference is to avoid IU in our Regional. We can certainly beat them, but they would create more competition for tickets for Sycamore fans.
We want as much Sycamore Blue in there as possible!

Add Illinois to that list too. I'd be extremely happy if Arizona and Connecticut ended up in our bracket.
