Gotta luv the benevolency of our Courts and justice system. For many, it's a time for a 2nd chance, and it appears Micah is getting that opportunity at some kind of redemption like all other Sycamores players who've had a brush with THE LAW. P.S. It appears that his FELONY charge was dismissed too, which was a good thing for him....it no longer appears in the record, which I don't even know how that's even possible. That's a lot of string pulling to accomplish that!
So on 10/7 he was released on his own recognizance and is in Level 1 Supervision through the Pretrial Services Program at Vigo County Community Corrections.
Also, here is the latest order from 10/8: State of Indiana appears by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Charles Johnson. Defendant, Micah Thomas, appears in person and with Counsel, Joseph K. Etling. Cause comes on for Initial Hearing. Joseph K. Etling, enters his appearance on behalf of the Defendant and waives formal arraignment. The Court enters a preliminary plea of Not Guilty on behalf of the Defendant. The Court continues this matter to October 14, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. for Omnibus Hearing and Bench Trial. The Court now releases the Defendant on his own recognizance. The Defendant agrees to abide by the following conditions: (1) The Defendant agrees to abide by all local, State and Federal Laws: (2) The Defendant agrees to appear for all Court Hearings. (3) The Defendant agrees to keep the Court informed of his/her current address. (4) The Defendant is ordered to report to Virgil Macke for a Mental Health evaluation. Virgil Macke is to conduct the evaluation at their earliest convenience, and that the results from the evaluation be forwarded to the Court as soon as possible. The Defendant shall authorize release of information to the Court. These conditions shall remain in effect until further order. The Defendant shall have NO CONTACT with Alyssa Okoh, in person, by telephone or letter, through an intermediary or in any other way while released from custody pending trial. This no contact condition shall extend to the above-named victim's residence, place of work or any other place where he/she may be. Further, the Defendant is ordered to have no firearms, deadly weapons, or ammunition in his possession.
No mention that he was ordered to be our ABOVE THE RIM player this year, or to earn a offensive of defensive MVC NEWCOMER award in the first week of the season.
