Wish we had some clips of Coach Sanford's half-time re-programming, because it sure worked! I like this staff...it's a brand of FB that we haven't seen in awhile. We could've came out after the half w/ our tails wagging between our legs. Instead, we showed poise and a positive game plan, correcting the 1st half errors. One (1) turnover the WHOLE GAME (last ISU play of the game)...unheard of. Hope that Bell is coming around in his rehab, but no reason to put him in the grinder against Quincy if he's NOT ready. IMO.

I agree. Great adjustments at the half. In the first half Purdue was in Perish's short's immediately almost every pass. He also had a case of hang onto the ball too long a few times. I thought he did an excellent job keeping his eyes downfield while scrambling in 2nd half though. He definitely progressed from IU to Purdue. I think Purdue's soft coverage definitely made it easier to get in a rhythm because they had nobody to jump the quick screens or flats (until the last play). Defense was solid most of the game and reminded me of the bend but don't break D last year. I'm looking forward to conference to see what this team is all about. I think Purdue might struggle to get 3rd in our conference and Hazell made some of the dumbest game mgmt decisions ever (no field goal attempt before half and should've taken safety at end of game to make us go length of field. He won't be at Purdue long.

The KO return for the TD to start the game and not having Shakir Bell were two big factors in the loss. Crazy to think we were that close. The D was just amazing in the first half. Hope none of the injuries prove to be major.

The defensive line was great but that was about all. we have no secondary defense. Our quarterback is extremely slow and has a pitiful arm. I don't see many bright spots ahead. Purdue is the worst team in the Big 10. Kendall #10 screwed up by not pouncing on that loose ball. You are taught in grade school not to try to pick up a loose ball.

Perish has a fine arm when he gets time, or is given a pass play that develops quickly. His biggest problem is not looking to get rid of the ball when he faces pressure, but he had a solid second half.

As for the secondary, I'm going to assume you don't realize we were already missing our starting safeties, King and Layne, going into yesterday and then lost Wilson and Stowers during the game. That's four key players in the secondary. Ultimately, I thought they held up well.

And - Calvin Burnett had one of the best games I've ever seen from an ISU corner. Some beautiful passes defended and some nice tackles on plays stretched to his side.
