Why so long ?

Not sure I really understand the "difference" between the Wooden and Blockbuster events in Indy for Purdue ............. ?

But its always seemed to me that ISU should have been in the Wooden event every year just like Purdue -- Coach Wooden played at one school -- coached at the other .......... maybe it was too logical. PU and ISU could have played different opponents in a doubleheader and then occassionally played each other. We could have had a better chance of getting a game against a big name school that would not come to HC and it would have been great for PR and recruiting.
So this opportunity is a good one -- lets make the most of it.

Someone needs to explain to the idiotic Purdue fans that this is not a bad game for them. ISU is a top 100 RPI team in a top 10 RPI conference. Would they rather play a SWAC or Scummit League team with a low RPI??

Let 'em WHINE! WE KNOW it is a good addition to their schedule and it is obviously a plus for us as well, especially getting a high profile game in Conseco. Unfortunately, the Blockbuster game doesn't usually draw that well but it will give the Indy alumni a good reason to throw an event, that's for sure. We were very close to playing in the Wooden a couple of years ago but they could not get it done. Both of these games (Blockbuster and the Wooden) are teetering on the fine line of existing so lets be glad were included.

some of their fans realize ISU will be a worthy opponent, they just don't like playing in Indy against the Sycamores. Looks like they'd rather play them in West Lafayette where they'd have more of a home court advantage. Purdue will prob. open as a top 5 team next season, but that doesn't mean they can't be beaten.

Purdue fans are also some of the most ignorant fans in the country. I hate Purdue more than any other team. I am pumped for this game because I am positive the Sycamores will play Purdont extremely tough....we always do. Even two years ago when we had a down year we still hung in there at Mackey for the majority of the game.

Make it a Triple Header:

Have Martinsville High host a HS game at 1:00; then State plays at 3:30, Purdue can host the 'nightcap' at 8:00

Yes? No??

I am so excited about this. I was in Mackey Arena in 1970 when we beat Purdue for the first time. I was sports editor of the yearbook that year and did a full spread on the game. Since then, I would imagine we close to winning half of the games we have played against the Boilers. It's a Saturday night; we should try to pack the place with blue and white. I read some of the comments on the Boilers' site. Some had some very positive comments about us; others very negative. Maybe they are afraid or worried of an upset. We should take the band and cheerleaders and make it an event to remember.

I think it falls over winter break, but I can tell you I'd play in an alumni/volunteer group! I'll be there either way!

The winter break excuse would be one that ISU would use and Purdue wouldn't. It would be good to see ISU PR step it up for this game.

Not holding breath...:evileye:
