Mr. Fouty was a good man - my cousins mom (ex-aunt) is Mr. Fouty's daughter, so that would be my cousins grandpa and all I can say is it made for some great story telling at family gatherings when I was a kid. I didn't know Mr. Fouty very well - but the times we talked he was always very friendly and a very dry funny guy - again he had some great stories to tell. That entire side of the family are HUGE Loosier fans, I was never converted knowing my cousins grandpa was friends with Bobby Knight, in fact it made me hate the Loosiers even more.

Going to the services tomorrow - I expect a pretty big crowd on hand as he was known and respected by so many. A good man that was wasn't going to suffer. I talked to my cousin last night and he was doing well - we are a pretty close/small family as I only have 3 cousins total and he is the only one here in Terre Haute. Just a sad fact of life.

Sad that he passed; my condolences to the Fouty family.

Also sad that the trib-star writer buried his selection as an Indiana All-Star in the story; a far greater acomplishment than is giving due

He was one of my best friends. I had coffee every morning for years. I will miss him and the other old pals greatly

My Dad worked for him at the Trib-star in the 70's and told me he was the best boss he ever had.Never met him myself he must have been quite the character.Condolences to his family.

No, I was still working in the Pat's Cafe days, remember Charlie started at 3:00 in the morning and went to 9:00, place to place to place. I had coffee with him at the old Boston Connection, sometimes at the Holiday Inn, but mainly at Crossroads, Ihop, Bev's, and Square Doughnuts.

Hahah that is a classic. I was so young then, probably about 10 or 11 but I remember that about him - always made me shake my head - heck still does

Charlie was very sick at the end so it was God's blessing. I don't think I've come to terms with it yet. One of his closest friends, Monty McDonald ( Don' youngest son) said I just thank God our paths crossed, next to my dad he was the greatest teacher and person in my life. I am lost for words but that pretty well sums up my opinion. Mitch Albom's book on the ten people you hope to meet in heaven has to include Charlie for me... oh the stories he could tell, he has to be the most unforgettable person in Terre Haute's history. I miss him so

Blazer, I have never met him but I knew his daughter when we were at ISU. I always followed the games he called during his career primarily because of his connection to ISU. I have read some awesome comments from many over the years, i.e. Bob Knight etc. about his career and his life. I only hope that ISU will honor him at some point because he was always a great ambassador for Indiana State. So sorry for your loss and of course to his family as well.
