It was either that or the beer could go out of distribution for another century. The one thing downtown Terre Haute is missing with its resurgence is a quality micro brewery and that area of Terre Haute, with its history, would be perfect for it.

They had one, where they were brewing CV just after I left school and it failed I do believe.

They did.. The Terre Haute Brewery operated for a couple of years on south 8th street... and they served the beer in "The Tap Room"... that is the "west side" of Mogger's Restaurant.

My personal opinion is that they "went too big too quick".... Would have been nice to see the brand grow from a "brew pub" and perfect their lineup, instead of trying to go straight to bottling/distributing..

It was very nice while it lasted.

My grandfather was a fan of CV, I didn't get a chance to sample TH Brewery's version...

Agree downtown TH would be served well by a brew pub BUT I often wonder if The Haute's demographics make it a great market?

I think downtown is the only place that could make it.... and it would have to be a "brew pub"...
My concept would be:
Sycamore Stout
Rose Hulman Red
etc...
But also taps from other Indiana Breweries.
Only 2-3 "macros"... Bud, Bud light, coors light...

Need quality food served in there - and a MUST is handmade potato fries, chips, wedges, etc. NOT FROZEN.

I have several ideas for brews, none include RHIT, StMoW, OR Ivy Tech...

I won't share them as I MAY want to use them!

What I don't have... the $$$$ and location.

If they reopened the Green Valley, Viking and other surrounding deep-shaft coal mines that employed a few thousand, doubt if CV would have any problem. Those guys had a thirsty appetite & comradery that is unmatched by current industry. Father worked @ GV, Grandfather @ Viking...was one of the key organizers of the Miners Picnic held @ Memorial Stadium during the Summer.

Bottling and distributing can be the cheaper route though, if the beer is good and gains a customer base. There are many successful micro breweries across the midwest that don't even have a "brew pub." I never tried the beer at this particular brewery, so I can't say whether it's quality was the problem, but the beer (at least one of the offerings) has to be good enough to gain you a place in the market. It's only getting tougher with the industry growing like it is.

CV

Worked for the American Can Co. delivered cans to the brewery, and tho not legal age I found the tap room a
great place to take a break and the beer out of the wall was very good. Not as good in can or bottle, and may
be that the price was a factor for my tastebuds, never the less we miss the CV brand.
