Starting on July 1 Joey O and Mike King have launched a local sports talk radio show Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on 99.5 and 106.9. Tracy Archuleta will be on today somewhere between 3:30 and 4:15 and shameless plug - I will be on around 4:15 as a follow-up to that interview and to talk Indiana State athletics for a bit.

Been many years since Terre Haute had any local sports talk radio - maybe Vasso Michales some 15 years ago?! Nice to have another platform promoting Indiana State athletics.

Don’t be shy about expressing how Mallory needs to resign.

That's funny... I like Mallory and he's always been very personable and respectful towards me so for that reason alone I'm not going to put him or his program on blast. Plus, not sure how much they will want to get into football with me anyway - they know my feelings. Quite frankly, I'm not really trying to go on the radio and push that narrative. At the end of the day, I am just a fan and I've pushing that for what 10 years now? Nothing has happened. Me going on the radio and talking about that program isn't going to change anything. Either the new leadership at Indiana State is going to step up and make some difficult decisions or we are going to continue to get left further and further behind - it's really as simple as that.

I'm sure we will talk a little bit about the following:

- New AD/New President - I've met the new Athletic Director and really liked my first interactions with him. I'm scheduled to play golf with him here in a couple weeks and hope to learn more.

- Hannahs fallout - as we've discussed on here I think a number of factors went into this decision. Personally, I am a little surprised that Tracy Archuleta is the best coach we were able to attract to this job given what this program has accomplished the last two seasons and given that our overall baseball budget is in the top half of the MVC. But I'm also not going to sit here and pretend to be that well educated on Tracy's resume and his ability to be successful here - I'm not going to do that on here or otherwise.

- Indiana State hoops roster and what to expect this coming season. And to be perfectly honest with you all, having not seen them I don't really know what to expect - so we will just see how the conversation goes. I mean on paper given that we got such a late start on the portal I think Graves did the best he could do. Between having to put together a staff and almost an entire roster - I think he did pretty well. But trying to talk about lineups and who is going to have a good season for us and who needs to have a good season for us? This is just really uncharted territory.

- And then I'm sure Indiana T&F, NIL and a few other topics might come up. For the 20 to 30 people that will be listening I'm sure whatever is said will not be earthshattering news. If I can stick to the subject matter at hand better than Biden/Trump (cough golf handicap) I should be golden!

It's pretty cool that there will be a radio show in T.H. covering local sports 5 days a week. What that will look like I'm not sure, and I suppose it depends on your definition of local. Will it be purely ISU, Rose, SMWC, and high schools in Vigo and the surrounding counties; or will it be ISU, IU, Purdue, Colts, Pacers, Cubs, and Cardinals; or a combination of both?

Better hope it is more than "20-30" or it will be gone in a matter of weeks. Hard to sell advertising on a show with near zero market share.
I know you were joking in a self-deprecating manner; but in reality, the Athletic Department needs to do some work to promote the show among athletes, their families, and fans.

This could be a real dumb question and I understand this show is at it's beginning. But anyway they get this into a podcast? The chances of me hearing this on the radio are about 0% but if it was archived or a podcast i'm going to listen to it when i'm driving around for work.

I hope it’s just local high schools and college talk. I hate “local” shows that talk professional sports. I can get that talk anywhere
This is my hope too. I just wonder if there's enough local sports to talk about for 10 hours a week, especially now in the summer when it's sort of a dead zone for college and high school sports.

It’s a good idea - I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to post them on YouTube similar to JMV and several other shows. So many easy ways to just allow people to listen at leisure. I will ask them the plans, I know they are still developing the website but think that you can listen live here https://www.wambradio.com/

New AD will be in on Monday. They will be taking questions so if you want to ask the new AD something, send them in.

Boo.... you bum!

J/K... great segment. Don't think I disagreed with anything there. Man, Mike went in on the resources topic. Glad someone gets math.

I wasn’t really prepared as I said above to go on an anti football rant today - but Mike has a lot of frustration (like all of us) built up over the years and he’s willing to use the platform to speak truth about hard topics. I’m here for it.

Will be interesting if he brings up the topic on Monday with the new AD

On one hand he stated that he feels the new AD will want a year to look at everything from top down before making big decisions (which most people can understand) but on the other hand he lays out the case why the situation is going to change and probably not improve with time and arguably will get worse.

Looking forward to tuning in on Monday for the interview.

I wasn’t able to listen unfortunately, for anyone who did listen (SSOM, Jason, etc), would you mind sharing a highlight or two from the Archuleta interview?

> Talked about how excited he was to be in Terre Haute and a part of Indiana State which has so many successful programs and he can’t wait to be a part of that success. Sounded confident and ready to get to work - very business like conversation. No flash. All business.

> Talked about several past coaches at Indiana State and the success they have had. Just happy to be part of a program who has had so many great coaches. Named them all off.

> Talked about trying to resell the program to our guys in the portal that haven’t found a landing spot - just the nature of college athletics right now.

> Talked about the new administration and how much he thinks they value athletics and how he is aligned with them. About what you would expect a guy to say who was just hired by said administration.

Also mentioned that he hoped to have asst coaches finalized by Monday. Didn’t drop any names. Just said hoped to have staff in place by early next week.
