Is
Gonzaga MBB star Timme the first (and only) current student-athlete to appear in a casino commercial? Timme is in a few of
Northern Quest Resort & Casino's, which has been a supporter of Bulldogs athletics for 18+ years in a deal which includes casino and tribal branding on the Zags home court. The
Wall Street Journal's Bachman observes: "The casino ads don’t explicitly promote gambling on sports—or on Gonzaga—but they’re a sharp pivot away from the
NCAA’s warnings about the dangers of gambling." And then there is this from
LEAD1 boss McMillen: "I’ve been on the board of regents of schools. It reminds me, we went through the debate on alcohol at football games. And that kind of just went up in smoke, too, those bans. I’m saying I think you could see a sports book within five years on campus."
@IndyTreeFan -- here you go. Apparently there is away around the gaming ban.
